About this deal

The basic mouse experience is so good and perfect that it honestly doesn’t matter that the extras package is slim. Like the Logitech G203 Lightsync wired mouse and other offerings, (like the Logitech G733 Lightspeed wireless headset), our review subject comes in a range of bright colors. This mouse is a bit on the smaller side and may not be well-suited for people with very large hands, but it feels as well-built and premium as some of Logitech's higher-end mice. You’re forced to change modes in the Logitech Gaming Software, unlike the G603 which had a hardware switch for this on the bottom.

If you have a really large hand, and you like to get all up in your mouse’s business with a big meaty palm grip…this probably isn’t for you. While going over a lot of the details and tech used by the mouse, I did have a number of questions pop up which I pinged Logitech about, namely about a small graphic about keeping the receiver 20cm away from the mouse. For other options, take a look at our recommendations for the best mice, the best gaming mice, and the best wireless mice. On the other hand, the Logitech feels significantly more responsive and has a lower minimum lift-off distance, so the sensor shouldn't track your movements when you reposition your mouse. It isn’t perfect, but it’s certainly a terrific addition to what is hopefully a new trend in wireless peripherals.

On the other hand, the G305 is a great choice for a fingertip grip, and it has more programmable inputs. Tested on Logitech G240 Gaming Mouse Pad Logitech G HUB, as well as the indicator light on G305, will notify you when 15% of battery remains. I don’t know who thought a 12 hour battery life was a good idea on a mouse, but apparently, many people bought them, and still continue to do so. It blows you away with its dependability and simplicity, which are traits so often overlooked in the gaming accessory sphere.

G305 features the Logitech G HERO optical sensor with 200 to 12,000 DPI sensitivity for competition-level accuracy. Wireless mice are one of those things that rarely meets expectations, but Logitech seems to have cracked it with its LIGHTSPEED mice. In the age of USB-C charging, the Logitech G305 feels a bit archaic in its use of AA batteries for power. Logitech knew they already had a winning shell, and they did some serious engineering to keep the weight down here.

It has an ambidextrous shape that's well-suited for a fingertip grip, though people with small and medium hands can also use it with a palm or a claw grip. Between the main buttons is a rutted scroll wheel that emits tactile, bumpy feedback as you roll it. Its symmetrical design doesn't account for the lopsided shape that a hand rests in while using a mouse. means it also takes some time to adjust your aim in fps titles, but you'll be able to respond quicker once you get used to it. Also, the scroll wheel lacks a free-scrolling mode and left/right tilt inputs, which are useful features for many workflows.

However, the side buttons aren't swappable, so despite its more ambidextrous shape, this mouse is clearly geared toward right-handers. All in all, this LIGHTSPEED wireless mouse for all is a readily available and very affordable package. I tested it across a wide variety of games, and my Windows desktop, and not only does the mouse track exceptionally well, it tracks without any perceptible lag in the Performance mode. Due to its smaller size, the Logitech may be more suitable for people with small hands, especially in a claw or fingertip grip.

Lastly, while both mice use the same software, the LIGHTSPEED has onboard memory for custom settings. After using mine as a PC gaming and work mouse for two years, I've found it to be an incredible value that has held up well over long-term use. We've added a small disclaimer to the Compatible Software Option section which highlights some of the most commonly reported issues users online have encountered with Logitech's G HUB companion software. The Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED and the Logitech G203 LIGHTSYNC are very similar gaming mice but have a few standout differences. It's suitable with a fingertip grip for any hand size, but people with larger hands may feel the mouse is too small for a palm or claw grip. Oh, and if you are running out of juice, there's an LED indicator that'll start flashing when you're at 15% or less.
