I watched all four movies and love the franchise in general; I'm used to some really peculiar things being shoved into the continuity without warning. From its production design to extensive worldbuilding, there is so much that sets the John Wick franchise apart from other action movies. The influence of Western ballet on the John Wick franchise also folds perfectly into the wuxia style of action filmmaking.In the Wickiverse, this background of the Ruska Roma is echoed, as the Director had to smuggle young Jardani Jovanovich out of Belarus and secrete him away in the Institute where he began his training as a boy. In a flashback readers see a young boy and aspiring thief chased by a quartet of criminals through the streets of El Sauzel, Baja California in Mexico. The series, originally published between November 2017 and February 2019, was published as a graphic novel, John Wick: The Book of Rules, in June 16, 2020.

In addition to following his rise up the ranks, this comic also aims to flesh out his childhood as a reckless street urchin in Baja California.
