About this deal

Phoebe graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration and currently lives in Bellingham, Washington. The stories are darling and the illustrations are wonderful - I really enjoyed reading this to my daughter who immediately wanted to play out the tales from the book! The heart of this story is a simplistic, community-oriented life, filled with little adages for everyday life and living.

Our mission is to nurture a sense of belonging, inspire connection, and spark imagination through our colorful line of paper goods, gifts, and homewares. and readers will find satisfaction in seeing the way [Little Witch Hazel’s] sturdy care succors her community and results in gentle reciprocation. She grew up unschooled in Washington State, and credits her free spirited childhood in the Northwest for much of her inspiration and work ethic. And in "The Blizzard", the tiny witch provides healing care to the inhabitants of the forest, only to be caught unawares by a blizzard. Little Witch Hazel is a beautiful ode to nature, friendship, wild things and the seasons, that only Phoebe Wahl could create: an instant classic and a book that readers will pore over time and time again. The quiet but insistent rejection of conventional norms is both cheerworthy and effortlessly integrated, and the result is a story that can sit happily next to any classic fairy story as well as contemporary picture books directly addressing physical differences.

Instead, the coloured-pencil textures evoke the spirit of some early picture books by author-illustrators such as Wanda Gág. She is the award-winning author and illustrator of Sonya's Chickens , Backyard Fairies and The Blue House .i can absolutely see myself rereading this every season and it made me wish there was a little kid to share it with. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Each product in our collection features the fantastical folksy artwork of illustrator and author Phoebe Wahl. It's full of the old-fashioned charm and magic of fairies; talking animals; witches who heal; adorable little homes made in the base of tree trunks, mushrooms, old shoes. Her "magic" consists of herbal concoctions and traditional healing, rather than casting spells or enchantments.

Instead we just march through the four seasons doing a whole lot of nothing except walking around a tiny village peopled with all sorts of elves, gnomes, and forest critters. The writing is lush and lyrical, and the textured, earth-toned illustrations expertly capture Hazel’s world, both cozy and gloriously wild . Liked the story well enough but when I looked at other books by the author I came across her colour in book.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The only question I wanted answered was why was this witch so little, and the book does not address that at all. i requested my library purchase this book and was so pleased when it showed up in my holds because i saw it as a recommendation for a fat main character in a fantasy world. Autumn: The Haunted Stump sees Hazel and her friends investigating a very spooky sound, and making a new friend in the process.
