About this deal

If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. It's ambidextrous and stationary, so it's well-suited for both left- and right-handed users with limited mobility. For other options, check out our recommendations for the best ergonomic mouse, the best wired mouse, and the best mouse. If you're looking for a mouse with a detachable wrist rest, check out the Kensington Orbit Wireless Trackball with Scroll Ring.

The SlimBlade is unique among trackballs with its super sleek shape, low profile body, oversized buttons, scrolling by twisting the ball (I’ll explain later) and glossy, metallic paint. Kensington promises 4 months of battery life with a single charge via the USB port, but I have not been able to test the total battery life yet.

The cable connects the USB-C port on the trackball with a USB-A port on the computer or USB hub, and with the USB-A to USB-C adapter (also provided) you can connect it to a USB-C port. The sides of the trackball are filled with a cream-colored rubber, with a little rubber ‘flap’ that sticks out on the left side with the Kensington logo engraved in it. The Kensington SlimBlade Trackball mouse has no scroll wheel; instead, you twist the trackball to scroll.

It also has three CPI presets, six additional buttons, and a conventional scroll wheel with L/R tilt inputs. Reddit and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with a better experience. These are strong improvements, but revisiting the SlimBlade design after many years reveals a few flaws that the update doesn't address. Finally, when I first started using the trackball I was slightly put off by the stiffness of the ball. And since it doesn’t move while you use it (like all trackballs) it doesn’t really matter unless you are running very low on desk space. It's a straightforward app that provides access to a basic set of functions including button mapping, cursor-speed adjustment, and scroll speed when you twist the trackball.

Connecting to a Bluetooth-enabled device is easy: press the round button on the right side of the SlimBlade for a few seconds until a small blue light starts blinking. Also, pushing either the top two or bottom two buttons together simultaneously acts as another programmable input that you can assign. All the functions in KensingtonWorks are simple to set and easy to control, but some obvious configuration options are missing.

This, of course, takes some getting used to, but for me, it is second nature and it works surprisingly well! I tried to google it and all I get is new and regular mainstream models… I would really like to make my office co-workers stare at my desktop every time they pass 😀 I’m a Sci-Fi fan, and this look the most affordable solution to make myself stand out of the ordinary! There’s a button on the right side of the mouse allowing you to change the DPI used, with 4 levels to choose from.
