Some readers would probably fight me on the fact that I wasn't loving this at 24% and yet I still gave A Winter's Promise 5 stars. Sono felice che apparentemente la relazione tra Ophelia e il suo fidanzato non si basi su falsi sentimenti di amore (anche se lei più volte si sente in colpa per questo se non addirittura che vaneggia su un papabile innamoramento da parte di lui.

Un fantasy incantevole, che mi ha rubato il cuore e che è entrato a far parte dei miei libri preferiti di sempre. I would have thought that by the Storm of Echoes, Thorn and Ophelia would not still be on their own, that we would have pivoted/transitioned to a full reunification.

That is what attracted me to it at the first, it sold the premise and it didn't disappoint as I read. L’altro elemento che mi ha lasciata perplessa è la struttura della “società matriarcale” su cui dovrebbe essere basata Anima. Adult readers who gravitated toward the intricate world-building of Harry Potter or reveled in the dark trickeries of Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass will find themselves ensnared by A Winter's Promise . E. Schwab's "Shades of Magic" series, Tomi Adeyemi's Children of Blood and Bone , Kenneth Oppel's "Airborne" series, and N.Highly recommended to anyone who imagines reading something beautiful and clever and enchanting and magical. She doesn't even want to be with the 'hero' of the book, and has so many other strengths going for her than the love of a man, and I think that is made perfectly clear. A lot of the story is focused on her learning about the Pole and its people after being thrust into a place she knows nothing about.

Ophelia is a hero for the ages, and I hope this series becomes the next big one that grabs the imaginations of young adults and adults alike. There is another clan all about illusions, and Ophelia gets up close and personal with one magical outfit! It's political, about illusion and appearances (being the opposite of what you expect) and no one is safe! The first fifty or so pages were similar to the Mysterious Benedict Society for me, only with an older feel, but it turned out to be completely different than the first fifty pages and GOD AM I UPSET. Anche solo il cliché di uomo fisicamente imponente, freddo e rude nei modi VS ragazza impacciata, goffa e minuta.The rest of the story is so unique, but this fell into too much of a trope, which for me, detracted from the story.
