Bushmills 10 is where Bushmills really starts getting good and that triple distilled Irish single malt gets a chance to shine. From the complex and aromatic nose to the warm fruity palate it’s wonderful whiskey and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s quality drams like this that make me wonder why so many folks have such a bias against Irish Whiskey. Sure some of the blends are crap, but so are some Scottish blends. For me, I didn't like the whiskey on its own, it was too overpowering and I was disappointed to not be able to define the notes of honey coming through. I did mix mine with Coca-Cola though, which I know is a sin in the whiskey world. However, most importantly, my dad loved this brand so at least now I know what to get him for Father's Day. Is this that same bottle which you are reviewing? Nose: Sweet and fruity, also gives you of eucalyptus at the start. Toffee dominates and hints of floral notes are present as well. Bourbon casks are clearly giving the stronger note. Water adds cinnamon and notes of fruitcake.

FINISH: Long and delicate, synonymous of the subtle flavour journey of this unique triple wood single malt whiskey. Very nice fruity-sweet nose. Summer blossom honey, caramel, green apple, honeydew melon, pineapple, custard, juicy lemon cake. The palate starts off fairly nondescript, but then the buttered pastry shows up, with white pepper, liquorice, milk chocolate and green tea. Simple and straightforward, but quite nice. Water brings out more malt, spice and apple skins.Bushmills 10 is one of my favorite Irish sipping whiskies. It’s just insanely pleasant to sip on and something I can enjoy all day long. It also happens to be the favorite of Bushmills master distiller Colum Egan and that’s a man who has access to more Bushmills than any person on the planet. Continuing in my st-paddy's day's theme I went to my favorite liquor store and bought a bottle of 10 years old bushmills. I usually go for the 1608 original bush, but felt like going a bit older this time. We make whiskey like it's always been made round here. But Bushmills is much more than just a whiskey. It's a village, where families, friends and neighbours work side by side at the distillery. As we often say, 'without the village there'd be no whiskey, and without the whiskey there'd be no village'. On the palate, the initial hit is quite balanced: neither too sweet, nor too dry. But then, it starts to develop. You get the sweetness of malt and corn, that turns into something like milk chocolate, then strawberry, then classic malt. Finally we get the wood notes of spices and a touch of corn and flowers.
