Creatures, Myths & Legends New scans reveal what lies inside gruesome 'Fiji Mermaid' VIDEO 10-26-2023 | 11 The universe is full of unexplained mysteries, and in the words of Aristotle, “The more you know, the more you know you don’t know.” Mysteries drive us to explore, to search, to think and experiment. Humankind has been to the moon, explored our solar system and beyond; we’ve created computers smarter than people, and we can store huge amount of data in tiny spaces. It is always intriguing when we solve mysteries, but in this category you will only find the unsolved variety.

The infamous region of the Atlantic Ocean, which earned its reputation due to claims of planes and ships disappearing between Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and Miami, Florida without a trace, turned out to be not as scary as it seemed. Teamster leader Jimmy Hoffa went missing in 1975. The FBI is once again on the hunt for his body in a former New jersey landfill. (Image credit: Getty Images) Named after the island near where it was found by sponge divers 115 years ago, the Antikythera mechanism is an incredible machine of finely calibrated gears that appeared to be technology not available until at least the 10 th century—but the mechanism was at least 2,000 years old. Nature & Environment Mysterious, web-like strands are falling from the sky over California VIDEO 10-7-2023 | 12While many Christians today celebrate Dec. 25 as the birth of Jesus, he likely was not born on this day. The date Dec. 25 may have been chosen because it's close in time to Saturnalia, a Roman festival that celebrated the god Saturn. The earliest records of Dec. 25 being the birthday of Jesus date to the fourth century A.D. — more than 300 years after his birth.

The UnXplained is a television series on History that claims to "explore subjects that have mystified mankind for centuries". [1] The show is hosted and executive produced by William Shatner. It premiered on July 19, 2019, and has aired for five seasons on the History network. At Ancient Origins, we believe that one of the most important fields of knowledge we can pursue as human beings is our beginnings. And while some people may seem content with the story as it stands, our view is that there exist countless mysteries, scientific anomalies and surprising artifacts that have yet to be discovered and explained. I know we’re all about explaining the unexplained here, but the cause of ball lightning remains unclear; scientists can only really theorise about how these little devil balls are created. The image was taken by Captain Hubert C Provand, a London-based photographer working for Country Life magazine, and his assistant, Indre Shira. They were taking photographs of Raynham Hall for an article, and had just taken a shot of the Hall’s main staircase.

1. The Rendelsham Forest Incident

In the village of Woolpit in Suffolk, England, some time in the 12th century, two otherworldly looking children, green as leaf appeared one morning and baffled everyone with their odd dressing and behaviors. The boy and girl, neither could inform their rescuers about the place they came from or even tell their names because they did not speak any known language. They refused to eat anything but raw beans. To investigate some of the biggest mysteries in science, you have to venture to some pretty far-out places: the bottom of the oceans, inside the human brain, the tops of mountains, and even the end of time. Theories swirled that a buildup of electrical current, a pyromaniac or even the devil could be behind the mysterious blazes. While that signal may have been a result of the hydrogen tail of an undiscovered comet, more recent radio bursts have scientists scratching their heads.Tornado, ball lightning, blood rain, rain of animals, weather modification, St. Louis Arch, HAARP, Eero Saarinen

Have you ever been so angry that you feel like you’re going to burst into flames? Well, these people look very much as if they did. Spontaneous human combustion was first described in the 1600s: someone would burn to death without an obvious source, the head and trunk being reduced to ash. All that would remain would be the leg or legs, poking out from the remains. Quite horrific.
