In this Monopoly Board Game: Ghostbusters Edition, players travel around the board buying up Ghostbusting contracts. The game features scenes, characters, tokens, and artwork inspired by the original Ghostbuster movie. Landing on a Supernatural Entity space has players teaming up to battle Slimer, Stay Puft, Library Ghost, or Vinz Clortho to save the city! The last player with petty cash when all other players have gone bankrupt wins!

Hasbro seems to have learned their lesson from not including Rey in one of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens versions of Monopoly. That's why Dana Barrett's cello and Janine Melnitz's glasses are included instead of more iconic Ghostbusters paraphernalia like the Ecto-1, Slimer, and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, all pieces that were included in the old edition of Ghostbusters Monopoly.

They have done the cheap way of making a licensed Monopoly spin-off, they got cheeky by changing just enough to make it different but leave so much of the original gameplay that everyone knows it. To the gameplay and it may say it has unique Ghostbuster events and locations but the core gameplay is unchanged from normal Monopoly. In fact, the only things different are you can use the Ecto 1 squares (train stations in og monopoly) to travel between them for a cost, roaming vapors (community chest) give random good and bad cards and boss squares. Boss squares I thought would be like in the Mario monopoly whereby every chip in and fights these massive bosses for rewards and it’s all kinda cool. Nope, boss fights here are just two people rolling dice each and trying to beat a pre-determined score to get cash or pay that amount of cash to petty cash (free parking). Once you've collected all of the Ghostbusting contracts for one color set, you can use your turn to set up ghost traps and containment units to up your chances of catching something strange in your neighborhood. When you land on an ECTO-1 or Supernatural Entity space, team up with other players to battle Slimer, Stay Puft, the Library Ghost, and Vinz Clortho as you make your way around the game board.

Landing on a Supernatural Entity space has players teaming up to battle Slimer, Stay Puft, Library Ghost, or Vinz Clortho to save the city! I came away dissatisfied and disappointed with it all, the game went on far too long, the game just dragged with the boss fights to be boring and never felt worth the effort. OK, so the player pieces were alright but again bare minimum. The hotels and that were just containment units and ghost traps. It was just all too simple and unappealing. Monopoly: Ghostbusters Edition is a Ghostbusters-themed version of the classic property trading board game Monopoly that was released in the Spring of 2020 by Hasbro Gaming. In place of Chance and Community Chest, there are Roaming Vapor cards. You draw one from the Ghost Trap holder, do what it says, and discard.

The Monopoly game: Ghostbusters Edition is an awesome game for Ghostbusters fans, ages 8 and up Just like in the movie, sometimes Ghostbusting doesn't pay quite as handsomely as a hapless gang of heroes would hope. As each game player slowly goes bankrupt fighting grimey ghouls, the last player left with petty cash wins the whole thing and earns the title "The Greatest Ghost Hunter That Ever Lived." (At least this is how my kids will make sure it goes down in our house.) This edition of Monopoly features Roaming Vapor cards, and ECTO-1 and Supernatural Entity spaces on the gameboard

For me, choosing a Monopoly game piece is the most exciting part of playing, yet it holds the potential to create a huge argument when my kids both want to use the same token. My hope for this particular game is that this type of conflict is mitigated by the fact that every player piece for the Ghostbusters edition is absolutely worth choosing. A PKE Meter is perfect for the player who wants a little help from technology when hunting ghosts, Ecto Goggles for the player who wants to look like some sort of a sci-fi superhero, and of course Dana's cello for the player who understands the priceless value of the team's very first client. These new elements don't remarkably change the game, but it's a nice change of pace from the usual Monopoly re-releases that are the exact same as the original Monopoly.MONOPOLY GAME: GHOSTBUSTERS EDITION: There's something strange in the neighborhood and you got the call! Start adding Ghost Traps, then eventually upgrade and buy Containment Units ROAMING VAPOR CARDS: This edition of The Monopoly game features Roaming Vapor cards, and ECTO-1 and Supernatural Entity spaces on the gameboard So I absolutely hate Monopoly, (perfect way to start a review amirite) always have as it encourages cheating and the first person to play has a huge advantage and so on. Anyway, I bought Ghostbusters Monopoly because Ghostbusters is awesome and because Fortnite monopoly was so good it swung me around to the possibility that these licensed spin-off games could be good.
