It is to punchy and is distinct(I don't like that much punch) but is still maintaining a fundamental tone, so I can tolerate. Impact of the sub-bass is felt and definitely emphasized but the mid-bass takes a step back and is better controlled than previous offerings.
The design is different, but it makes it comfortable to wear for longer periods of time and that’s definitely a plus! I used the ES4 for two or three hours at a time and felt just some slight fatigue, which is quite a good result. Alas they also have a terrible spike in the upper mids/lower highs that makes the sound fatiguing and even piercing at times. And if I use EQ to lower highs I can get rid of that brightness but mids and vocals still sound kind of lifeless, dry and tiny.
If it has anything in common with the ES3, it will have to be in the sound department because in looks, it’s a baby Zs10.
