Learning Disability Week - Adult Protection Easy Read
Published: Wednesday 10 May 2017 by Fife Council
Fife Adult Support and Protection Committee (ASPC) are promoting Learning Disability Week (15-22 May) by raising awareness of their easy read resources.
Alan Small, ASPC Chair said “Easy read is just one way of making information more accessible. It is a style of information often chosen by people with learning disabilities, although other groups can find it useful too. ‘Easy read’ means writing things down clearly using simple language, short sentences and using pictures or symbols. Adult Support & Protection information supports people to make choices to keep themselves protected from harm, and to know how to report if harm happens to them. We are also featuring the Scottish Ambulance Service new guide, ‘How to send a text in an emergency’.
If you or someone you know is at risk of harm or neglect, call the Adult Protection Phone Line on 01383 602200. To download our resources, visit: www.fifedirect.org.uk/adultprotection and go to the ‘Easy Read’ page.”
Easy read booklets are available on harm, disability harassment, financial harm and internet safety. If you would like paper copies please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org or call 03451 55 55 55 extension 441924.
