About this deal

Remember that a larger hamster would require a bigger flying saucer, which could take up a lot of room in their cage. This means it is likely to last you twice as long and is also a lot easier to clean due to its non-stain material! Silent spinners are of course designed to be far quieter, but it’s nearly impossible to create a wheel which emits no sound at all.

The nice thing about the open wheels is they can jump out easily and flop on the substrate (ours used to like doing that). They also make 12 inch metal wheels in various colors, and I wouldn't go smaller than that with Syrians just to be completely safe - something bucket wheels are severely lacking in terms of wheels like the Carolina ones which are somewhere around 10 inches or just over in diameter which isn't going to work for many Syrians as it would be too small for them to properly run with a flat back. You can choose whether to hang it from your furry buddy’s cage or leave it freestanding with its handy wire stand and its non-rung plastic surface prevents animals from getting caught. Our collection of large hamster wheels is designed to provide your furry friend with the ultimate exercise experience. He runs for much longer and I bet this is one of the reasons why – for a fully grown syrian hamster this product is 10/10. Niteangel and Carolina wheels have large open plastic wheels and Rodipet does one which isn't a good design for a Syrian, in my opinion.

Hi all, I’ve recently purchased a 28cm Trixie wheel for our Syrian hamster, had it around 4 weeks now. Most plastic wheels tend to be incredibly squeaky and noisy, and given hamsters can run up to 6 miles in one day, the endless rattling can soon become a living hell. The gerbil can't just start running like in the 28 cm wheel, but has to jump up on the front to get it moving by using her entire weight. Anyone who’s ever had a hamster before knows that while an exercise wheel is often the joy of your little furballs life, it is conversely nearly always the bain of yours.

It’s larger size means it stops the pressure that can occur on a hamster’s spine when running upwards in a more cramped wheel and its slick spinning makes for a less rackety plastic orbit. Additionally, the solid base of the wheel ensures that it remains stable during use, preventing accidents and injury. Just a better spin, lighter plastic and a thicker-coated base that isn't as tasty to chew as the original. The Hamster loving community get frustrated to see tiny wheels being advertised as suitable for both Dwarf and Syrian Hamsters (This is probably because it would only fit a tiny cheap cage). Occasional treatment with a drop of cooking oil on the moving spindle will ensure the wheel keeps turning easily.
