Price estimate statistics ---- J.M 2005 Of. Calvados Cask n°0410147 - One of 570 - bottled 2015 ---- It was the culmination of a remarkable field of rums, including six categories of Rhum Agricole, the magnificent sugarcane-juice rums of the French Caribbean, with brands like Montebello, La Favorite and HSE performing strongly. The Flor de Cana rum and cigar pairing evening at Rhum Room. Rhum Agricole is known for its full-bodied and grassy flavour profile, often described as having a herbaceous quality with notes of tropical fruit, spices, and earth. The concept of terroir is highly significant in the production of Rhum Agricole, as the environment - soil type, topography, and climate - affects the quality and taste of the sugarcane and, hence, the final spirit. Each distillery's Rhum Agricole carries the imprint of the land from which its cane was harvested. While the plantation remains owned by the family of Crassous de Médeuil, the trademark for Rhum J.M. was sold in 2002 to Group Bernard Hayot, a Martinique-based trade group who markets and sells the brand of rum worldwide. Product Martinique has taken the lead in establishing stringent production standards, achieving an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) designation for Martinique Rhum Agricole in 1996. This AOC, much like those for French wines, specifies the types of sugarcane that can be used, the areas of production, the distillation process, and the ageing requirements, ensuring each bottle meets high quality and authenticity standards. This year’s festival was such a great event, it was an event dedicated to people who wanted to learn about rum, taste rum and cultivate themselves in the world of rum,” Lulaj said. “It was also a moment to have fun and spend a nice evening in the company of a local band with local music a nice Ti Punch in hand.” There’s a rich and heavy fruit aroma coming off the glass here, almost like a very sweet fruitcake — I’m getting some raisins, apricots, deep brown sugar, plums, figs, and a touch of vanilla for good measure. As the liquid settles, there’s a bit of the herbaceous raw sugar cane that peeks through, but it is significantly buried under everything else. It’s less of a tropical assortment than we saw in the VSOP and more of the traditional rancio profile.

Once cultivated and crushed into a juice, the sugar is added to some water and fermented for no more than five days to an alcohol content of 7.5% ABV. (The idea here is that the lower-than-usual alcohol content will allow more flavorful rum to be produced in the end.) That ranged from Damoiseau’s popular Ti’ Punch party at Les Ilets de la Plage hotel to a “Caribbean Rum Festival” evening that featured Parce Rum, Don Q and Ron Pepon at Le Barthelemy. The result is that not much really changes in this case in terms of the profile — the only thing that does change is that it’s a little less intense of a flavor profile thanks to the added dilution. It’s still fruity and light, with possibly even a touch more of the pineapple on the finish than before. Fizz (Dark and Stormy) Your Personal Taste: depending on whether you prefer the fresh and herbal flavors of white rums, the indulgent aromas of amber rums, or the intensity of aged rums, explore the range that best suits your preferences.

He added: “Our teams know each other very well and have worked together for more than 15 years. The skills and expertise we each possess will be a real added value in this new group.” Taking a sip, those fruits are the first thing I get, specifically the coconut, mango, banana, and apricot. That’s followed by just a hint of pineapple as well as some good caramel and vanilla notes. It’s a sweet yet complex flavor profile that ends with a rather short finish, a bit of banana being the only note that holds on very long after the other flavors have dissipated. On Ice It began with a rooftop, oceanfront tasting of ultra-rare Martinique rum at St Barth’s magnificent Le Barthelemy Hotel and Spa.

For all mixology enthusiasts, JM has created the L'Atelier des Rhums range, which brings together rums specially designed to express specific aromatic profiles: Price estimate statistics ---- J.M 2005 Of. Armagnac Cask n°0411305 - One of 460 - bottled 2015 ----

JM continues to innovate and regularly offers limited editions or collaborations with other producers to provide unique flavor experiences. One of the most notable examples is the series of aged rums that have undergone finishing in Calvados casks, creating unexpected encounters between Norman and Antillean terroirs. Choosing the Right Rhum J.M for You Rum J.M has the exclusive benefit to use pure volcanic spring water rich in minerals sourced from the bowels of Mount Pelée. We feel this is worth mentioning as the purity of the water is a key contributor to the quality of Rum J.M. A team of eight global rum experts gathered in Christopher Davis’ renowned Rhum Room in St Barth to judge a final field of 60 rums across eight categories in a blind tasting.
