About this deal

Infamously, it was once the most expensive perfume in the world - shortly after the Great Depression, which somehow didn't hamper its success. The one positive I can offer is this vintage bottle doesn't hold all those awful chemicals that make up modern fragrances.

Early in her dementia I used to talk with her by phone as often as I could, though we lived on opposites coasts of the US. I love vintage and perfumes with a bit of skank, but the vintage indolic floral genre is not for me. In fact, I was so nervous that I spilled lthe dupe all over my lap when I was getting ready, so I am pretty sure I was smellable.

In any case, if someone in the States would like to trade I'd be glad to hook you up with some lovely vintage juice. Recently I bought a modern 30ml EdP to try it again and I’m afraid I’m still not the best audience for it. Whether you're seeking a signature scent for everyday wear or something unique and special, we're committed to offering high-quality options to suit your needs and budget. I live in Spain where jasmine overflows garden fences like a weed and it's a joy to walk down the street in the evening breathing jasmine perfumed air in summer. These "three" people have either never smelled Joy before, or wish us to believe that they possess extraordinary olfactory powers and an ability to pick up on every single note in a perfume - and then some.

then we are already making a step towards aromatic territory towards Ivoires asafoetida, orris, pepper. There is some feel of sophistication, indulgence in life’s finer things and appreciation in this one.By then, it gets pretty powdery, and the jasmine all but disappears and Joy becomes pretty much a skin scent and I can barely detect it for the rest of the day. I own this in both the Parfum and EDP, and while I have commonly heard that all the versions are somewhat different from each other, I feel the differences between the two I have are vague at best. Infusion of golden warmth via a sharp-edged floral which quickly develops a delightful depth from sticky Ylang-Ylang (never entirely sure about this in raw form and gives me a headache as an essence), warm rose and something else heady and lush; Tuberose?

The indoles are a reminder of how nature isn't sterile, that these plants are living things that go through all stages from tart buds to inevitable, stinky decay. If that wasn't enough, the Wall Street crashed, bringing thousands of rich families to ruin and generating the biggest economic crisis in history, the “Great Depression”. This is the classic rose/jasmine I imagined as classic as possible, like a fine vintage movie of bygone era.Times changed and suddenly tastes changed, advertising faded and somehow despite it’s similarities to other classics like Chanel N5, sales dropped. HarlowJeam : my Dear, due to indolic jasmin in this scent it may smell deeply like cat urine for some noses. Jean Patou was acquired in 2018 by the LVMH group - which signed a strategic agreement with Designer Parfums to take over the clothing division.
