About this deal

Bob Mortimer wins 2023 Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction with The Satsuma Complex Eva has suspicions about her family and raises numerous questions and does some investigating throughout. This goes on for a number of years, along the way we meet some lovely characters and families and one or two not so lovely characters. It’s an immersive story, at times it’s joyful and happy but also at times it’s painful. I think the character development is done so well and Eva becomes such a strong woman and has such a strong voice. She’s definitely a character that will stay with me for a long time.

All My Mothers is a touching story about family, self discovery and friendship which manages to strike just the right balance between sweet and sad. Honest, heartfelt and hopeful, All My Mothers captures the joy and pain of love in all its forms, and reminds us that mothers can be found in the most unlikely of places and people. It broke my heart three times, but I adored it!' MARIANNE CRONIN, author of One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot It's like the author looses steam the second our protagonist lands in Cordoba, which is an absolute let down after almost half the book knowing this will be the beginning ofTake a Look at Our Summary of November Highlights, Whether You're Looking for the Latest Releases or Gift Inspiration Je suis quelqu’un qui aime les personnages. S’il y a pas une intrigue de ouf mais des bons personnages développés, I’m all in (ici il y a les deux). J’ai rarement lu des personnages si bien écrit. J’ai presque cru que c’était autobiographique tellement ils m’ont semblés *réels*

I missed the author's debut novel when it was originally published, but I'm going to remedy that very soon. If it's half as good as this one, it will be wonderful. All My Mothers is a powerful story of resilience and identity that highlights the strength of familial bonds. All My Mothers paints an intimate picture of the complexities of family relationships and cultural identity. Without a doubt one of the best books I have ever read - an extraordinary masterpiece’ Anstey Harris, author of The Truths and Triumphs of Grace Atherton - Una vida está compuesta de muchos momentos y All my mothers consigue captar eso a la perfección. When her parents’ relationship crumbles, Eva begins looking for a different, better life: a proper family, a perfect mother, and, importantly, real love. Her desire to find where she belongs leads Eva on a journey spanning years and continents – and, along the way, she meets women who challenge her idea of what a mother should be, and who will change her life forever… My review: This book is beautifully written and takes the reader through Eva’s life with sensitivity and wonder, through the hard times and the moments of happiness. Underlying it all, though, is Eva’s uncertainty about where she really came from and this is something she is determined to find out more about.
