About this deal

Slate roof vent tiles are also ideal for easy installation and the range of designs available. They can blend in nicely with slate tiles. So, if you would like something that suits the slate-style roof, consider these. The product has been designed as a remedial solution to help overcome the build-up of condensation in the roof space, however like all products that open the felt lap to provide ventilation it does not meet the code of practice BS 5534:2014+A2:2018 6.2.1.1. The specifier or user should be aware that the opening of felt laps on the roof may adversely affect the driving rain resistance of the slates, tiles or shingles, as well as increase the wind uplift forces acting on them. When upgrading roof space insulation, it is important to consider the effect on the roof and ensure that adequate levels of roofing ventilation is provided or maintained to avoid damage and the decay caused by the increased risk of condensation. Hambleside Danelaw have produced a short article about the ventilation requirements for cold and warm pitched roofs which is featured on Roofing Today. Ensuring familiarity with the roofing ventilation requirements will assist in constructing an appropriately ventilated roof.

It is possible for rainwater and condensation to run down the roofing underlay and drip though the opening cut into the underlay. This will usually be apparent on the outside of the vent, or on the underlay. To prevent this, the underlay should be cut and dressed around the opening to divert any rainwater or condensation around the opening in the roof. A warm roof will have the insulation in between the rafters directly under the roof tiles which means that the loft space will be heated also. They tend to only be used in smaller lofts where the cost of heating a large void space will not be too expensive. Most homes will have all the features to reduce moisture getting into the loft, but we have to accept that some will get in there. Then the question becomes how to deal with it. This is where what project focuses on.The Manthorpe Felt Lap Vent is a refurbishment product designed to increase the amount of ventilation into existing roof spaces. It can be hard to tell if it’s condensation or the roof is leaking, particularly as it can be astounding how much moisture can condense in the right (or should we say, wrong) conditions. Our roof ventilation range is entirely British manufactured, as are the majority of our products; proudly supporting British manufacturing and minimising risk in the supply chain and in your project schedules. Having said that, if you have added or are planning to add roof vents for clean air in the loft space, you may not care for such a solution. There is no stopping moisture in the home. We create it from cooking, boiling the kettle, washing and even breathing out. This moisture is warm and will rise with the warm air in our houses, eventually finding its way into the loft. Selecting the amount of airflow, then dividing the roof length by the spacing (in meters) indicted below. On a cold day there will be condensation on the roof felt – this will be droplets running downs the underside of the roof felt I just bought a load of 200mm insulation to top up the loft to see if that would help with the problem. I cleared everything out yesterday and when I went to start rolling it out today I have noticed that the roof is covered in beads of condensation and some of the wood is damp. I'm assuming from the sub zero temperatures last night as there wasnt any rain. We have moved into this house a couple of years now and we are having a lot of problems with the heating. Changed to gas after the first year and fixed some of the plumbing issues but we are getting a lot of condensation, mould on some of the ceilings in the corners and the house doesn't really retain any heat. Typically a leak will usually have an evident external cause and be localised whereas condensation will be across the whole roof space. You can find many roof tile vents here, including double Roman, roll and more. Each offers a style of ventilation to suit as much or as little as you need.

Normal air gets warm and rises. It filters through the ceiling, getting warmer as it passes through warm rooms and eventually gets into the loft. The loft is usually colder than the house rooms and as soon as the rising warm air hits a colder surface the vapour immediately turns to water. I've also noticed in some places the existing insulation is quite flat, though I haven't noticed any really damp. Would it still be ok to top this up or would it need replaced? In cases of severe condensation or for large roofs where the distance between eaves exceeds 10m (30ft), or the roof pitch is steeper than 35o, then it is recommended that an additional row of ventilation panels be fitted into the highest line of roofing felt or underlay lap closest to the ridge on both sides of the roof. Roof ventilation – solutions for a modern-day problem: 20 Results

Alongside the tile and slate vents, Danelaw offers a range of eaves and soffit vents, CON6+ and CLAY6+; the ventilated dry fix ridge and hip systems. This type of vent may also be referred to as an eaves vent. These vents can be found installed in many modern houses and are typically built into the soffit. The result is continuous 10 – 25 mm ventilation at a low level around the eaves of a property.

For roof spaces that require more than the 15000mm/m² the spacings half for each additional 5000mm/m²Quite often people see some signs of damp in their loft, or water dripping from the underside of the felt or rafters and automatically assume they have a leak. This is most definitely, not always the case. It is retrofitted to reduce condensation in the roof space. Simple for anyone to fit from inside the loft by simply inserting between the overlaps of underlay. Essentially there are two elements to dealing with condensation; the first is to understand where comes from, and the second is how it is removed from your home. Roof tile vents can be universal and handy when incorporating ventilation into your roof. They are typically easy to replace and, due to their universal manufacturing, added to any brand of roof vent compatible with the tiles you choose. Step two: Work out the number of vents required, asking how many vents it would take to provide the same amount of airflow:
