About this deal

Although Lucasfilm has been concentrating on making Star Wars TV output for Disney Plus in recent years, it hasn't lost interest in the big screen. At Star Wars Celebration in April 2023, three new movies were announced: an origin tale for the Jedi, set millennia before the Star Wars timeline we know and directed by Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny helmer James Mangold; the first Star Wars story to be set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, focussed on Rey's efforts to found a new Jedi academy, and marshalled by Ms Marvel's Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy; and a climactic event movie that'll wrap up the storylines of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka and (we think) Skeleton Crew, directed by Ahsoka creator/showrunner Dave Filoni. Erso’s research related to how energy could be focused was what caught the eyes of those who were overseeing the Death Star project. Krennic rescues Erso from the Separatists, as the brilliant scientist had no other choice but to continue his scientific research for his rescuer because he was indebted to him. And what he originally thought was going to be an altruistic project turned into research that would ultimately change the fate of the galaxy through the Death Star. 4. The Reign Of The Empire Skeleton Crew (TV) IN PRODUCTION (TBC, but likely to be set in a similar time zone to The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka) As revealed on This Week! In Star Wars, the new book Star Wars: Timelines by Kristin Baver, Jason Fry, Cole Horton, Amy Richau, Clayton Sandell arrives from DK this November. The Star Wars Book dates the launch of the Starlight Beacon, which is depicted as part of the events of The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, to 232 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 232 BBY according to Star Wars: Galactic Atlas. In The High Republic: A Test of Courage, which takes place concurrently to Light of the Jedi, Vernestra Rwoh is sixteen years old. In The High Republic: Mission to Disaster, Vernestra states that she is almost eighteen years old, indicating that Mission to Disaster is set about two years later, around 230 BBY.

Queen Padme Amidala leads the liberation of Naboo, where Obi-Wan slices Darth Maul in two – sending him tumbling to his apparent death. Palpatine is elected Chancellor of the Republic, while Anakin starts his Jedi training. Galaxy watches both their careers with great interest. Emerging dark-side powers soon take hold within the Jedi, as the Sith come to power. (The Acolyte, Disney Plus series) In the opening text crawl of A New Hope, we’re told that “Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR” – information that turns the tide of the entire war. Rogue One is the story of how – and by whom – those plans were stolen. The answer is, by a ragtag group of scrappy oddballs on a suicide mission. Leading the story is Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), raised by Rebel extremist Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) after her father Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) was forcibly recruited by the Empire to build the Death Star. Primarily looking to reunite with her dear old dad, she’s swept up into the cause by Cassian Andor – working with sarcastic, gangly droid K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), blind monk Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yen), burly brawler Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen), and defecting Imperial pilot Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed) to pilfer the schematics from tropical planet Scarif. They succeed – but none make it out alive. Plus, Vader pops up in his lightsaber-swinging pomp, Grand Moff Tarkin appears via a CGI Peter Cushing, and it closes on a de-aged Leia speaking the all-important word: “Hope.” Episode IV – A New Hope This classic choice for Han fans sees him joining fellow Falcon crew member Lando on the run from an assassin who’s threatened not only the two of them, but all of Cloud City. Read all about it in: Last Shot: A Han and Lando Novel by Daniel José Older (canon). Regardless of your favorite kind of media, or your favorite eras of the Star Wars books timeline, your friends at Youtini can help you find your next favorite story from a galaxy far, far, away!

Timelines states that Star Wars: Poe Dameron begins in 34 ABY. However Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary previously placed it two years before Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, which corresponds to 32 BBY. Star Wars Insider: The Fiction Collection Vol. 2 by various authors (mix of Legends and Canon short stories)For readers who: want to learn more about the aftermath of the battle between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, or have heard of Grand Admiral Thrawn and want to dive deeper into his origins. Timelines dates " Powered Down, Part I" and II to 9 BBY, a placement previously established in Star Wars Helmet Collection 78. However it also places the events of Choose Your Destiny: A Han & Chewie Adventure around 8 BBY. As the "Powered Down" comics take place after A Han & Chewie Adventure, this placement is impossible. Lucas (ghost-written by Alan Dean Foster; originally titled Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker) Planet of the Hoojibs (1983), adaptation of Star Wars #55 by David Michelinie (adapter) and Greg Winters (illustrator) (3 ABY) Out of the Shadows by Justina Ireland - continuing the adventures of Vernestra Rwoh, in which the Jedi discover a weapon that can exploit a lightsaber weakness.

Leonard, Devin (March 7, 2013). "How Disney Bought Lucasfilm—and Its Plans for Star Wars". Bloomberg Businessweek . Retrieved August 3, 2016. The collection Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Aliens is part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens promotional campaign. Some stories were originally published as individual e-books, and later collected with other new stories. However, they were all published together as a book called Star Wars: Tales From a Galaxy Far, Far Away J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens introduced viewers to a very different galaxy, but Lucasfilm didn't initially have a solid plan for how the galaxy had come to that place. As a result, there are surprisingly few Star Wars novels set after Return of the Jedi. Still, with the sequels wrapped up it is now falling to other mediums to draw the narrative threads together and tie them organically to the rest of the Star Wars story. This section is likely to expand at speed. BBY - Separatists make a couple of attempts on Senator Amidala’s life. Obi-Wan’s investigations into the assassin’s identity lead him to Kamino, where he discovers a fully-fledged Clone Army. Anakin slaughters an entire village of Tusken Raiders (men, women and children) in revenge for the death of his mother. Padme becomes strangely attracted to him. Star Wars Rebels animated series (TV) (starts around five years before A New Hope, with an epilogue set in the aftermath of Return of the Jedi)Battlefront II: Inferno Squad by Christie Golden - in the aftermath of the first Death Star's destruction, the Empire sends a group called Inferno Squad to destroy the survivors of Saw Gerrera's Partisans. BBY - Rebel informant Fulcrum revealed to be Ahsoka Tano. Empire commences Siege of Lothal. The Emperor unleashes Darth Vader to sort out growing Rebel problem. Former Clone Troopers Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor join Rebel cause. (Star Wars Rebels) BBY - Rebels secure their first significant victory over the Empire at Scarif – though in the ultimate downer, everybody involved in recovering the Death Star plans dies. (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) BBY - Maul and Opress join forces with criminal gangs and Mandalorian hardliners Death Watch to overthrow and kill Mandalore’s peaceful leader (and Obi-Wan love interest) Duchess Satine Kryze. Darth Sidious clears up the mess, killing Opress and capturing Maul. Grogu calls to the Jedi but is then captured by the evil Moff Gideon, who holds the Darksaber blade. Din is helped by Boba Fett – who is on the search for his armor – and the former heiress of Mandalore, Bo-Katan to beat Moff Gideon. They almost succeed, when a battalion of Dark Trooper droids arrive. Grogu's call to the Jedi is heard and Luke Skywalker saves the day. Skywalker then takes Grogu away to be trained as a Jedi. (The Mandalorian)
