About this deal

But when a long buried family secret chases them through a doorway into the 1700s it becomes impossible to hide her true self from Josh any longer. I think I was hoping for something that would give me the same vibes as something like The Very Secret Society Of Irregular Witches but this definitely didn’t do that. She lives with various witches of various ages, one of whom is still a bit salty about being hanged in the 1700s, one who keeps accidentally casting fertility spells, and one who knits things that create the future. An absolute must-read if you love Erin Sterling’s The Ex Hex and Lana Harper’s Payback’s a Witch!

There were a couple of annoying things: Josh is given way too much credit by Essie - ‘you were brilliant, Josh’ she cries after she deals with the dread threat—all he did was repeat words she told him to say. Josh follows Essie to her house and meet the eccentric tenants but interestingly he’s strong enough not to forget things he’s seen. Essie Winterscale lives with a coven of witches in a house which changes depending on its mood and the mood of the occupants.

I too have played the Hex game often, easy pickings on the bunce front most of the time Have'nt noticed hall of the mountain king though. After the complete disaster that was Secretly Yours, I really needed a good book to set me back on track. He has left his former home and job in Seattle and has moved to England (he has dual citizenship thanks to his father) but he has no money and the house needs a lot of work. Excerpts and links may be used with permission, provided that full and clear credit is given to Leah and Leah's Books with appropriate and specific direction to the original content. Maybe the fact, that the story is written in third person makes it more difficult to feel what they feel?

It reappears and instead of being "Bees or something" it is now the witchhunter man - except rotted. Bonus content for me was the author's note at the end with a brief history of witchcraft and the witch trials in Europe/North America.

It's unusual to enjoy every character in a book, but Kate has managed to create a fabulous cast of colourful characters, I loved every second I spent with them. Josh has just left his American life and moved to England to an old estate he had recently inherited. I have a second cousin who made the Guinness Book of Records for brewing the world's strongest beer, and I once ran over myself with a Segway scooter. All he did was inherit a property and be confused as to why it looked like rent hadn’t been paid for three hundred years.
