Show spoiler] they’ve already stated this series will have many time jumps, including in the 6th episode of this season with a significant time leap forward and older versions/recastings of some major characters like Princess Rhaenyra and Alicent…so who knows how far they can take this show as it goes along, I’m sure if it remains successful they’ll try and keep it going, hopefully not run it into the ground though…. Some features only scratch the surface and can be repetitive with the same soundbites being used, but overall you get a ton of intriguing insight into House of the Dragon‘s development. Cast: Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Milly Alcock, Emily Carey, Fabien Frankel, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno. As the first spin-0ff in HBO’s massive and successful Game of Thrones franchise, House of the Dragon had a lot to live up to – especially in the wake of the bitter taste Game of Thrones‘ conclusion left for many audiences.
I don't think encoding teams do this, however, when I encode (just for fun) at home, I make sure I always place more bits into dark areas. House of the Dragon: The Complete First Season features a wealth of bonus features that aren’t seen much on physical media these days.After the disappointing climax to GoT I was a bit wary of a this prequel but it has turned out really well. Two others of note are Eve Best and Steve Toussaint as Rhaenys Targaryen and her husband Corlys Velaryon as something of wild cards with Best embodying Rhaenys’ wisdom, intelligence and ability to recognize the world and a person’s character for what they are. As the family splits into two factions, each side has their own valid points for what they do, making the line between good and evil murkier and the cast deliver incredibly well on these layered performances. Looking at the description, you might be tempted to say that the complete first season boasts an impressive amount of special features — which is the main draw of physical media like this.
Set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series finds the Targaryens ruling over the Seven Kingdoms - and on the brink of a civil war within their own house. Set over one hundred and seventy years before Game of Thrones, when dragons were still around, opening narration implies that it's going to end in war. If the encoding software doesn't see the grain and only sees a plane background (for example), it will most likely use the least amount of bit-rate possible and this can cause visible artifacts. It’s a shame, though, there are not any audio commentaries on any of the episodes from Condal, Sapochnik, Martin or the cast.It seems clear that interviews with the cast and creatives were conducted during filming and there's a lot being cut and pasted together, but why are we being shown so little? I don't know if this was done because of streaming or just for style, but it's something that I thought about as I was watching the show. part of Daemon (there's some rather interesting subtext with regard to this uncle and niece which adds to the drama).
