About this deal
With thanks to HQ Digital and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Ebooks fulfilled through Glose cannot be printed, downloaded as PDF, or read in other digital readers (like Kindle or Nook). This one just kept in delivering, it had everything I enjoy in a book, sadness and happiness and a happy ending.
You'll be swept away then brought gently back to harbour in this beautiful portrait of a family and its multigenerational secrets. How dare she assume her mother has no right to her own life, that she is too old to make her own decisions? I enjoyed seeing Willow and Martha come together as sisters, and then become accepting of their mother’s decisions. I can’t say I was surprised by any of the outcomes but although I usually demand a little more intrigue I was happy to sit back and indulge in a very readable and engaging story.
I am sorry to say that it was so predictable and I did not find the characters had depth as they usually do. This is a multi-layered and engaging story filled with interesting and diverse characters, all hiding behind their secrets and for very good reasons.
Since the sudden death of her husband, Naomi has steadily rebuilt the life they shared in the village of Tilsham by the sea. These are my own honest and considered opinions that are uninfluenced by any other reviews or publicity. Willow is the opposite of her older sister, she’s currently working as a telemarketer and didn’t finish university.I received a complimentary copy of this novel from HQ via NetGalley at my request and this review is my own unbiased opinion. With an insatiable appetite for other people's business, Erica James will readily strike up conversation with strangers in the hope of unearthing a useful gem for her writing. I was so pleased to be approved to read this book as in the past I used to read every new Erica James book that came out.
