About this deal

While the FirstScope's offerings aren't as impressive as those achieved through a dedicated 'scope, they are sure to provide a "wow factor" for first-time and young observers.

The instruction sheet also explains how to point the telescope, observe the image correctly and focus the view. Again, these are measured by the interferometer when we take measurements of the optical surface after adjustment. Our eyes are not ready for the bright beam of light that emits from the eyepiece, and they “stop down”, just as they would when you step out into the sunlight on a bright summer’s day. Unfortunately, it’s the lack of accessories (such as the lunar filter, decent eyepieces and finderscope) that let the FirstScope down and could result in the young astronomer becoming frustrated and losing interest. It almost feels as though you’re looking at the Moon through a magnifying glass at the end of a cardboard tube. That being the case, the top third of one side of the sheet is a diagram of the telescope, with the English instructions taking up another third directly below it. The 20mm eyepiece had too much of a negative impact on the view to fairly represent the scope’s capabilities.

Generally, the higher the Strehl ratio, the lower the Astigmatism and Coma meaning a better image quality from your instrument.Celestron is arguably the best-known manufacturer of telescopic equipment in the world and produces a wide range of scopes to suit all ages and levels of experience. Celestron has joined forces with master lunar imager Robert Reeves on this new addition to the beloved FirstScope family: Moon by Robert Reeves. At the forefront of a new era in amateur astronomy, the launch of Celestron Origin stands as a beacon, seamlessly intertwining stargazing and astrophotography into a singular, user-friendly experience. Although the field of view and image was much better than the supplied 3mm, the FirstScope doesn’t do a great job of handling eyepieces with a short focal length.

In 1609, the Italian scientist Galileo Galilei first turned a telescope to the night sky and opened the door to exploring the wonders of the heavens. eyepiece offers 24x power while the 6mm eyepiece increases the power to 50x which makes it easier to find and observe objects that require more magnification.Celestron can now offer you the official telescope for this occasion, the FirstScope 76, which is more than able to provide anyone with their first personal impression of the wonders of the universe! I immediately bought a Celestron barlow lens - very nice lens - which means I can get much better magnification from the longer focus eyepiece, and any lens down to about 10mm.

Its compact design makes the FirstScope Signature Series easy to take along on your next camping trip, picnic, or hike. The optics do not provide pin-sharp sights through the field of view since the focuser tube is quite loose, but even such basic observations are sure to delight those who have always wanted to get a closer look at the lunar surface without straining their eyes. The 76mm spherical mirror and eyepieces are what you might expect, well, with the exception of one thing mentioned below that you definitely wouldn't expect lol. Celestron used to provide better quality Plossl eyepieces with the FirstScope, but unfortunately, that’s no longer the case. Its Dobsonian mount makes it quick and easy to set-up and use, and its optics are quite capable of delivering some decent views. The telescope has a simple portable design that can easily be transported from a bedroom window to a dedicated dark sky location. This makes it a good choice for younger astronomers, but teens or adults will get more from a bigger scope, such as the Zhumell Z100 or the Sky-Watcher Heritage 130. Robert Reeves first photographed the Moon in 1959, just as our space program was setting its sights on lunar exploration.
