About this deal

The clasp and bracelet combo are perfect for this watch, and in my opinion vintage watches would have killed for this bracelet. On a continuous effort to stay at the forefront of watchmaking expertise, Mido introduced on the development of its mechanical movements, the revolutionary Nivachron™ balance-spring. We see it as a nod to the golden age of travel that captures the excitement and romance for your wrist, even for those moments when you’re stuck in line for security, or simply dreaming of that next far-off destination.

It glides like butter and, amazingly, doesn’t make the clasp any thicker than the clasp of a normal watch. They didn’t even seem to appreciate that it was such a neat product within the larger Ocean Star collection. Mido outfits most Ocean Star watches with an automatic caliber from ETA, a Swiss movement manufacturer.the way the market works, probably because they are good for what they are and for what can reasonably be expected.

Subject to regulation by the Financial Conduct Authority and limited regulation by the Prudential Regulation Authority. Personally, I feel Mido to be a dressier option over its Swatch siblings and the Ocean Star Tribute is no different. They afford excellent readability in a range of conditions while perfectly complementing the watches' elegant design.Pricing for most Mido watches falls in line with other Swatch Group brands, such as Tissot, Certina, and Hamilton — though Mido, by design, has some of its own specialties and design icons. It’s your standard green Superluminova, and for the life of me, I can’t understand why something advertised as SUPER can be so sub-par.

Flipping the watch over, you’ll find a solid steel back with a fun, stamped relief in the center featuring a quirky little starfish extending an arm above some stylized waves. This model comes with a completely different bezel that is coin-edged and clearly inspired by bezels on Rolex Submariners. The rounded edges of the crystal obviously cause some distortion; however, I found the sapphire to be much clearer overall, and causing far less distortion of the dial from different angles than the Plexi crystal in the Lorier that I reviewed last year. A guarantee of precision, this new titanium-based metal alloy allows to reduce the effect of magnetic fields, while offering great resistance to shocks and the effects of time.

The Caliber 80 from MIDO is a next-generation automatic watch movement which offers up to 80 hours of power reserve, twice as much as a regular calibre. Since 2019, the Ocean Star series has been promoted at the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, an annual competition in diving from a height of 25-28 meters. As I said, this is especially true when looking at the case and bracelet polishing and construction quality.

There’s “MIDO” and “AUTOMATIC” at 12 in white, and “OCEAN STAR” and “CALIBER 80” in white and orange, respectively, above six. If you cancel your purchase we will cancel any remaining payments and pay back to your card any amounts we have taken. It’s non-offensive in the best sense, and because of that and its clean design, the watch is a true chameleon that can become a part of any outfit and easy to wear every day, whether in jeans or a suit. Some overall dial and bezel marker design issues were improved in the larger and more expensive Mido Ocean Star 600 Water. The Ocean Star is not a perfect watch — few are — and Mido has actually improved some of the dial design elements in the more recent Ocean Star Diver 600 collection.
