About this deal

We also meet Harry who is retired from the police force of which the pair join forces after one of the local residents is murdered. We may use this information to make you recommendations about offers or content that we believe you will find interesting.

An arrogantly famous American chef opens up a bistro in St-Buvard where things don't end well, to say the least. I also find it increasingly irritating that her female sergeant Janine is always described as 'pretty blonde'.They may also be used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.

We discover the reason Jerome Raleigh transferred from the Metropolitan Police and the constant thread of Hillary Greene's late husband's criminal past is taken that little bit further. In Murder in the Village, the first in the Belinda Penshurst series of mysteries, we meet Belinda Penshurt, who is a little over forty and living in her family home—the village manor/castle—in the village of Little Challham.

Then there were other little things like how both Belinda and Harry go poking around even in the police’s presence, or Harry’s being at a loss for explanations when a person is hurt because he’s only dealt with dead bodies—I mean he was a police detective not a coroner (also if this last instance was meant to be humorous, it didn’t really come across as that). Wonderfully portrayed characters, a mystery that keeps you guessing till the end, this is a brilliantly written piece of cozy mystery.Just as she’s leaving work for the day, Detective Inspector Hillary Greene is stopped by her boss and handed what he knows will make her happy – a murder investigation.

Marcus too lives at Challham Castle (and comes up with said hare-brained schemes), as does their father who seems absent from the scene though where or why is not explained. Belinda is excited about investigating (gleeful, almost), but behind it also is her worry about her brother’s possible involvement in the case, for just before Tipper’s death, she had overheard Tipper rowing with Marcus. She's a hell of a police woman and I'm very lucky to have just started the next in the series: Murder in the Family. When dogs are going missing in Little Challham, Challam Castle owner, Belinda Penshurst, talks retired detective, Harry Powell to investigate with her. So you can imagine my excitement when I was asked if I would like to read and review ‘Murder In The Village’. In addition to that she has a new superior officer in the station who seems to have made an odd career move. With DI Greene's forced absence from the station, DS Tyler takes over the murder investigation whilst trying to deal with a shocking upheaval in her personal life. When I say story, there are actually two stories here – the murder in the village and a much bigger, far reaching battle with the local drugs baron.
