About this deal

This one, though, has a fresher feeling that means I’d be as happy eating it on a summer eve as I would a winter night. Back to the dhal: stir through the spinach and the chopped tomatoes so the spinach wilts a little, then taste it and add the juice of up to 2 lemons, depending on your preference. Now I use Ottolenghi's recipes for special wow factor, Anna Jones became my favourite for the everyday and many recipe will become.

Arrange the apple halves cut side up on top of the batter, brush with some of the ginger syrup, then sprinkle over the demerara sugar and the remaining teaspoon of ground ginger. Each recipe in Jones’s fourth cookbook can be made in a single pot, pan, or tray, and comes with suggested tweaks for making vegetarian dishes fully plant-based. We are used to jars of the bright yellow ground stuff, with its earthy flavour, but if you can get it use fresh turmeric. To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. At various points, she has considered opening cafes or restaurants, but for now she thinks she can make the greatest impact through her books. She is clear in the introduction that we are at “a turning point, in a moment of crisis” and “the most powerful thing we can do is eat fewer animals and more plants”. Even if you don’t do the cooking at home, you may well have had a brush with Anna Jones: if your plate is without meat, she’s probably behind it. You can leave this as it is, but I like to blitz it with a handheld blender to make a vibrant purple soup. In a pan, cook the rhubarb and sugar for 2 minutes, until the juices turn the sugar into a pink syrup but the rhubarb still holds its crunch.

I must mention though, that I have cooked my way through most of them, and rather too many recipes just do not come together. Strain the broth if you are serving straight away, or if you plan to eat this later cool with the vegetables left in for a more intense flavour, and strain before reheating. Put the empty pan back on the heat, add the remaining tablespoon of ghee or coconut oil and the cumin and turmeric, cook for a minute or so, then add 100ml water, the potatoes and cauliflower and half the spinach. Turn the heat up a little and add the apples and three-quarters of the cabbage, then fry for a further 5 minutes until the cabbage begins to soften. There are also 100 recipes for using up any amount of your most-eaten veg and ideas to help you use the foods that most often end up being thrown away. The second is I love to use Eat Your Books to plan my meals, and the book is not indexed on the site yet. I do love her so am sorry to hear that, but kind of sorrier that it means a lack of faith in her many and varied recipes and what she herself preaches.

Jones’s new cookbook, One: Pot, Pan, Planet, doesn’t, at a cursory skim, appear too different from her previous books. If you make this in autumn or winter you could leave out the fresh tomatoes and replace with some grated squash for the last 10 minutes of cooking. Award-winning cook Anna Jones blazes the trail again for how we all want to cook now: quick, sustainably and stylishly.
