About this deal

Children can be asked to put a sticker on a map of all the places they have been or on a place they would like to go, giving a summary of each of the places.

A Ticket Around the World” by Natalia Diaz shares a fictional story about a young boy who travels around 13 different places while presenting nonfictional information about each of the countries he visited. The illustrator did a good job using popular knowledge and lesser known facts to paint a collage for each page and subsequently for each location. He learns things like how to say important phrases in their language, where the capital is, what their weather is like, what the country is famous for and much more! I think it’s a good nonfiction book that takes a brief look at different countries around the world. Each country that was presented, not only shared information about the native languages spoken but also included many different interesting facts about unique native foods, holidays celebrated and many other things about that specific place. This book is short (31 pages) but I think it gives the readers a good variety of information about each country to intrigue and inform them about how that nation is special.

As a class, we would learn a little of the language, try some of the food, and try some of the daily tasks/ways of life if possible.

This is an information type book as the boy tells the reader many interesting facts and information about each of the places he visits.

I did enjoy all of the interesting facts that the story included, which I believe students would enjoy and remember. This gives the reader a world tour via his first-person narration as he samples foods, views landmarks, and attends cultural events, among other activities. You might learn about the alphabet in some countries, their food, the household, what he did on his visit, the animals there, etc. I loved this book and learning more about the countries and thought it was such a cute idea to have the reader follow along with a kid to learn about the countries. He visits Canda,United States, Brazil, France, Morocco, Costa Rica, Philippine, India, Jordan, Botswana, Australia, Greece, and China. For each country we learn about its culture, the people that live there, the languages spoke, food eaten, and so much more.
