About this deal

Personally, I may have difficulty with discernment and I might retain a certain amount of innocence and naiveté when dealing with people, which may make me appear immature to others, but that doesn’t mean I am naive about the world and it certainly doesn’t mean I am immature. I've worked as a behavior therapist for special needs kids for over 8 years and suspect my 4 year old as being an aspie, however, only time will tell as she is very mild. Even if actively avoiding romantic relationships or sexual encounters, a lack of understanding about acceptable social interaction between men and women can leave Aspies vulnerable to negative experiences.

I now think that it was my own ability to compensate and her ability to adapt that led up to last summer, but I can say that I am grateful to find out.

My general opinion is that her maturity level is very juvenile and at least 3 years behind her peers. My brother was recently diagnosed with Aspergers and I have a lot of the same symptoms so I am getting checked soon. In contrast, I tend to notice Aspie females by their verbal behaviors…the usage of exotic speech, their preoccupation with and extensive knowledge of certain topics. When a woman knows her diagnosis, she can make sense of relationship problems and solutions become evident.

They over-focus on details at the expense of main ideas, although theyre capable of insightful abstract thinking and analysis, often seeing connections others miss. Many of those with this almost version of being on the spectrum are more comfortable and feel more accepted by others on the spectrum. I also have cerebral palsy and I know that the way I view the world because of that definitely affected my personality big time. I'm sixteen and was recently formally diagnosed with Aspergers though I'd pretty well known it for years. Depending on the industry, working from home, meeting through Zoom, and uploading work to cloud-based environments offers a lot of flexibility and social balance.

This positive and celebratory book also contains helpful discussion points for parents and professionals to explore further with the girls in their care. The second part gives a little more background info for grown-ups on the first part and is very accurate and lovely and should definitively be read by grown-ups before they discuss the book with a young aspie girl.So not an inability, just a delay because we try so hard to remain optimistic and believe in a better future as a way through the tough times. Now that we have GRASP (Global and Regional Asperger Syndrome Partnerships: online and face-to-face meetings all over the US and in Canada) and other groups run BY AND FOR adult (and teen) Aspies, we have a group-consciousness and we KNOW we are OK just the way we are.
