He’s maybe one of the last holdovers from old-style, sex-comedy shonen manga that dominated Jump in the 70s and 80s. It's just a jokey concept inflicted on a man who is personally worried about it, and mostly because he's afraid of what it says about him that he does want these things but is constantly frightened off by what getting emotionally close or just vulnerable with someone means. I’m going to be very curious going into this next volume with the big boss wanting to talk to Adachi and how that conversation could challenge Adachi and Kurosawa’s relationship.
It is interesting that a lot of Adachi's success at work at this point seems to be attributed to his mind-reading powers, which he'll eventually lose once he and Kurosawa take a few more steps in their relationship. The bonus chapter at the end shows Adachi and younger colleague Rokkaku working together again (much to Rokkaku’s relief as Adachi has helped him since he joined the company).I also really like that we got to see Adachi finally tell Kurosawa the truth about being a wizard and seeing how Kurosawa handles that new knowledge.

It doesn't even come across half as creepy as it sounds because Kurosawa generally seems to be a nice guy who cares for Adachi.
