About this deal

Hammers are notorious for causing hand injuries and are among the top four causes of injury in the construction industry. Duplex nails are ideally for temporary structures, such as braces, scaffolding, formwork for pouring concrete or attaching temporary cleats during roofing work. Duplex Screws and Duplex Nails are flanged-head or double-headed fasteners that are often used to build temporary structures such as braces, scaffolding and concrete formwork.

The nail is driven into the surface to the first head, leaving a small bit of the nail and the second head sticking out. The nails feature bulged points and uniquely designed, double thread patterns to increase the friction between them and the holes, which, in turn, provides greater holding power. Collings wrote: “After the concrete has set sufficiently, the forms are removed, but due to the fact that the heads of the nails are driven into the wood, it is very difficult to remove the nails without damage being done to the forms, which frequently have to be broken and even smashed to pieces in their removal, thus causing a considerable waste of material and loss of time. Depending on the application, if too much force or bending is required to remove the nails, they are often not reusable. This is especially useful in projects where structures are assembled and disassembled frequently, such as scaffolding or temporary stages.

When removing the forms with a hammer or pry bar, substantial pressure is placed on the forms, which can break the edge of the freshly poured cement. Duplex Nails are as strong as regular nails, but the double head makes them easier to remove with a claw hammer or crowbar. They are often used in framing and carpentry, as well as in the construction of wooden crates and pallets. The results showed a 47% difference, with 45 Duplex Screws drilled in versus 24 Duplex Nails hammered in. The unique configuration is designed to for easy removal when a temporary construction projects finished.A badly broken finger or thumb can result in more than a month off work and can leave lasting disabilities.
