About this deal

On the 'wood-fired' method, we were seriously impressed with the results of our pizza – cooked at 400C, the pizza was ready in just two minutes and had a crisp leopard-spotted crust and perfectly melted cheese.

This budget-friendly, portable pizza oven comes with a 10mm pizza stone, magnetic door and temperature gauge going up to 450 degrees Celsius. Working days are defined as Monday-Friday 8am-7pm inclusive, excluding Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays. Setting it up was almost as effortless, and once we had inserted the stone, plugged in the rotating base (you'll need an outdoor power source for this) and attached the gas hose, the oven was ready to be lit. One of our biggest bugbears with the Ooni pizza ovens is that this essential tool must be purchased separately. Although it's electric, the Sage Smart Oven Pizzaiolo gives you the experience of authentic wood-fired pizza but without the stress of firing up an outdoor oven.Any bits of food or spillages will be burnt to ash anyway, which you can then sweep away with a brush or remove with a vacuum. They also noted the arched roof of the Woody Pizza Oven made cooking a range of dishes a little easier than with the Ooni Fyra's more shallow opening. One of the stand-out features of the Cozze is its versatility to run off either propane or butane gas. However, if you’re looking to take your oven with you on the road, we find it hard to choose between the Solo Stove pi and the Gozney roccbox, with the former edging it for mobility because of its brilliantly compact design and the latter maintaining its reputation for wonderfully tasty, no-turn pizza, thanks to its long, rolling flame. The company that made its name producing very nice-looking fire pits has now produced a very nice-looking stainless-steel pizza oven powered by a wood hopper or gas attachment, both of which are remarkably efficient at heating up the cooking stone to the required 450-500C within 15 minutes.

Each pizza we pulled out had a wonderfully even bake and the oven ensures all the hard work you’ve put into your prep doesn’t go up in smoke. These usually have protective covers so you can leave them out all summer, although you'll probably have to shell out for the cover separately.Getting the oven going takes a bit of practice, but it's is a serene ritual, and it takes no longer than heating a normal oven: you make a fire using a firelighter and a few bits of wood, and leave it for 20 minutes or so; then you push the fire to the back of the oven, and you're ready to cook. The sleek metal oven looks like an oversized microwave and sits happily on a countertop or kitchen island to be plugged in to the mains – no outdoor space required.

The time it takes to heat up will vary depending on the type of fuel and how powerful your barbecue is. The highlight was the super quick cooking time (pizzas ready in under one minute) and Italian pizzeria-worthy results. She often makes pizza in her oven with a stone, so was eager to test out the Woody Pizza Oven Kit to compare. When we put this pizza oven to the test it impressed us with its beautiful exterior and sturdy design. The kit has everything you need to get started – including a long-handled pizza peel, a carry bag, pellets, and kindling, plus a handy recipe booklet.

It is a little on the heavy side at 30kg, so not the best for travelling, but there's no denying the authentic feel of that crackling wood and our finished pizza was restaurant-quality. This pizza oven is another first of its kind – it can reach 450C internally without being fuelled by wood or gas. It still gets our vote as one of the best portable ovens out there, with easily retractable legs and a detachable external gas or wood burner, and the silicone outer layer stays cool to the touch. The BBQ Pizza oven is wood fuelled, allowing users to operate the oven using wood chips and chopped wood. But if you really like pizza and will use the oven regularly, invest in the protective cover and leave it out all summer so you can fire up the gas easily and have pizza within minutes. The wood fired pizza oven reaches 400-500 degrees in 10 minutes and cooks authentic 11" pizzas in just 3 minutes. Added extras move the Karu 16 on from previous models, such as the helpful digital thermometer and glass door to keep an eye on your pizza as it cooks.
