About this deal

She’d arrived a naive sixteen year old and had fallen in love with a man she thought would protect her against all odds - and hadn’t.

She find the castle has become delapidated since she last saw it and with no income she has no idea how she could afford to keep it. Romantic relationships are not the be all and end all of life, all our relationships support and nurture us in different and equally important ways. He was a TV superstar and she was a down-to-earth, frazzled mother of three trying to make ends meet. Christie Barlow is a new author to me and apart from using Grace's name, she also mentions a few of my online pals in her acknowledgements, including Meena Kumari.Isolated from friends and family Grace is living her life hour to hour barely scraping by and constantly in fear so when she discovers she is the sole beneficiary of her Grandfather’s castle she knows it’s now or never if she is ever going to escape the clutches of her abusive fiancé and protect her children. You could read as a standalone but it really helps the enjoyment levels to know the cast of many characters and how they're linked from previous stories.

The narrator reminds me of the wonderful Karen Cass, I will definitely be looking into more audibles by Eilidh Beaton. It is my pleasure to bring you my review of Heartcross Castle by Christie Barlow as part of her fabulous blog tour! Hector is the sort of person who you would love to know in real life, with a heart of gold and not a bad bone in his body he becomes a pillar of the castle. These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. This nervousness was all very real and valid but she needn’t have doubted her friends and the villagers as throughout the series they are known for their ability to rally around to help those in need, to offer a shoulder to cry on and just the feel good factor and cosiness is always abundant in spades. All in all, I enjoyed the sweet storyline and the fabulous setting of a small, but large-hearted, Scottish village. Love Heart Lane – where friends are there for you no matter what A second chance… When her grandfather Marley passes away Grace Power discovers she’s been left the beautiful but crumbling estate of Heartcross Castle.

Apologies to everyone for the late posting of this review but I am delighted to finally be sharing my review of Heartcross Castle, the latest book in the Love Heart Lane series by Christie Barlow. I felt as though I was part of the story and at the heart of the action which is all thanks to Christie’s very vivid and realistic storytelling. I loved how the community pulled together and Grace’s feisty sparring with Andrew, the entitled TV chef who is also saving her bacon by renting the servants’ quarters of the castle. There are also funny moments – a ruined picnic and some cheekiness from the kids, so it’s certainly not all heavy. My huge thanks to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for my spot on the Blog Tour and for arranging my e-copy via NetGalley. Their relationship had been over for a very long time, and the only connection between them now was when his fist pounded her body. There are many twists and turns, some funny moments, yes, wait til you come across the water filled wellies and two grown ups playing around in one of the fountains.

I liked watching Grace reconnect with her friends at Heartcross (whose stories are told in previous books, although I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by beginning at book 7) and find her own path. When I heard that Christie was due to release a new book in the series then I knew that I just had to read the book as soon as I could. Years later she finds herself realising that life hadn't been a bed of roses, but at least she had her three sons. I found this book a very heartwarming read and I really can’t wait to read the next book in the series. This realism gives a depth to this novel not always found in light “women’s fiction” reads and I certainly downloaded a boxed set of the first three novels in the series before I’d even finished reading it! This information might be about you, your preferences or your device and is mostly used to make the site work as you expect it to. When Christie isn’t writing she enjoys playing the piano, is a keen gardener and loves to paint and upcycle furniture. Heartcross Castle is full of secrets - especially a lost security deposit box that holds the truth to everything. But in the meantime Grace’s story completely absorbed me, so much so that I really couldn’t stop reading until I had reluctantly reached the last deeply satisfying page.
