About this deal

This makes this type of finishing product an excellent choice for pieces of furniture that might be exposed to moisture. Stripping is much- MUCH easier with Jasco Stripper; water based; (paint and stain can literally fall off your project); and which I have used on/off for 39 years. This creates an interesting 'limed' or 'patinated' look, which is very effective on many mouldings, especially ash and ayous/obeche. Wipe off the excess with a clean cloth, first buff against the grain and then finish in the direction of the grain.

Real Milk Paint meets the requirements and is suitable to be used as a kid safe paint for children and baby products. Formulated to offer a white shade to stained or bare wood, Fiddes Supreme Liming Wax produces a traditional ‘Limed’ finish, normally associated with period oak furniture.Apply Liming Wax to an open grain wood such as ash or oak, using a wire brush to open the wood grain for an easy to achieve “limed” look. Ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from dust, dirt and any other surface contaminants or previous finishes.

Once this is dry, remove any blemishes using a sanding pad or paper, again in the direction of the grain. If you wish to enhance the effect, colour the wood with Libéron Palette Wood Dye before applying the liming wax. This is a great technique for bringing out the character of the wood, as well as creating a washed coastal look. Remember, the goal is to open the grain without damaging the wood, so be gentle when you sand, especially when using a wire brush or coarse sandpaper.Open the grain with a Liberon Bronze Liming Brush, always work in the direction of the grain and use a good amount of pressure. To prepare the wood for a whitewash Liming effect, you need to first make sure the surface is clean and has no previous finish by using wood stripper and steel wire wool to remove this (Liming works best on bare wood).

One of its most common uses is in furniture restoration, where it gives old, worn-out pieces of furniture a fresh, updated look. It is particularly effective on deeply grained timber, namely oak, where the white wax can settle into the grooves, accentuating the grain and adding a sense of depth and texture to the entire piece itself. Ensure surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from dirt, dust and other surface contaminants prior to application of Liming Wax.Once you have completely finished liming, we recommend to finish using a good quality clear beeswax to enhance the sheen and add further protection to the wood. DIRECTIONS: Apply liming wax prior to using a finishing coat so that the grain is open and receptive to the liming wax. You don’t need to bring out any paints – all you need is White Chalk Paint™ Wax, a Wax Brush and a lint-free cloth. Liming Paste creates a traditional ‘Limed’ finish and is ideal for woods that have a deep, distinctive grain such as Oak, teak or Pine. Work the liming wax into the grain using circular motions and always finish in the direction of the grain.
