The film cuts to people in various situations - working in a Advertising / 'Creative' Agency, a TV film company, friends at a wedding, an author writing a book in his French holiday home, 10 Downing Street complete with Prime Minister Hugh Grant, etc.

Eight stories involving the love lives of more than a dozen characters are brought together over one Christmas and climax on Christmas Eve, from the recent widower Daniel (Liam Neeson), the failing marriage of Karen (Emma Thompson) and Harry (Alan Rickman), the ageing rocker (Bill Nighy) who just wants to get paid, through to the Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) falling for a member of Number 10’s staff (Martine McCutcheon). Its a little more tempered than some of Nick Loves earlier work too, but perhaps as a consequence, its also his best film to date. The likes of Billy Bob Thornton, Rowan Atkinson and Denise Richards turn up in cameos, helping make this film a throwback to those all-star, multi-plotted comedies of the 1960s and '70s, such as It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World ( 1963). I was a bit surprised to find out that the DVD for Love Actually boasts a screen-specific commentary.

He decides to use his special new gift to win the heart of the beautiful Mary, but finds that the course of true love can be hilariously difficult - even with the ability to try, try and try again. A blundering lothario supplies comic relief until he finds the female attention he seeks in America.

In the process, it sidesteps comparisons to the original by simply going off in a different direction, and works well because of it.

Da wir gerade von letzterem Sprechen: Die Einführung von Christins Sohn Gustave als weiteren Hauptdarsteller fand ich sehr gelungen, er bringt musikalisch durch seinen kindlich hohen, schönen Gesang aber auch durch seine Sichtweise eine gute Abwechslung in das Musical. Ich fand jedenfalls diese Bünenfassung auf Blu-Ray deutlich besser als die Kinoverfilmung des "Original"-Phantoms von 2004. There's more--too much more--as Curtis wraps his Christmas gift with enough happy endings to sweeten a dozen other movies.
