About this deal

My SB-5000 and D500 and was able to fire the flash using a WR-10 RF with a push of the camera shutter or remote each and every time in the brightest of sunlight. To all lovers, I highly recommend SB-700, and for professionals I do not particularly recommend getting an SB-910 if you have an SB-900. D lens on the body but I’ve not been able to get the flash to seemingly recognize the iso on the camera or the focal length of the lens. Nikon has provided updates for the SB-900 firmware, something previously not done with Speedlight units.

Faster recycling, better swivel, dedicated gel holder that impacts white balance correctly, the list of little things that were added or improved is quite long. When using the SB-910, the flash overheats at the same rate as the SB-900, but does not turn off, but simply blocks the flash. To get to the point, they use much more battery power than the Nikon flashes which means you are replacing batteries more often than you would with the Nikon SB-910. I needed to look into cheaper options and I came across the Meike MK-910 iTTL flashes and thought I would give them a chance. The type of illumination of the front and back objects, as well as their intensity, depends on the choice of the template.

In actual automatic use, you'll get thousands of flashes depending on your distance, since less power is used for each pop. Most notably the D700, if you’re wondering) It is a serious issue that very few people actually know about; they always just dwell on the fact that the SB900’s horrible overheating issues. The move to RF will have some initial growing pains while we enthusiast and pros adjust and begin making decisions on what future purchases we should make. You can even put the wide diffuser over the gel holder, so Nikon was actually thinking more about combos of things we want to do with flash than they have in the past. These are the number of full-power dumps Nikon claims you can get if you wait as long as 30 seconds for it to recycle. The performance of the SB-500 exceeds that of the SB-910 and has faster recycle times with AA batteries than that of the SB-910 + a better cooling system. Impressive about the SB-910 are its prodigious power output and super-fast recycling: 2 seconds at full power as actually measured with Sanyo eneloop cells taken right out of the package as delivered (not charged by me). So, this is why many experienced photographers just assume that the SB910 is the only professional choice. My ultimate change out is to replace my SB-910s and 700s with SB-5000s to ensure I only have one "menu" to remember, although they are all pretty much straightforward having a streamlined setup makes more sense.

Considering that the most common focal length range for ordinary photographers working at full frame is 14-200mm (14-24, 24-70, 70-200), the flash can work with the most common optics. The SB5000 can use traditional Nikon CLS IR, Pair with a WR10 or use with a 3rd party compatible setup. Power isn't that important today with high ISOs; you only need the full power of the SB-910 if you're 80 feet (24 meters) away at ISO 100 at f/1. But for a fast paced professional situation, I would encourage you opt for your designated camera manufacturers flash for consistency and reliability. Really, the only thing that ever goes wrong with flashes is either you drop them, or you explode them.

The SB-26 seems rarer on the used market and I have no experience using one - it may also be a good choice. Thermal cut-off feature: I don’t understand one thing- Why does everyone seem to be so annoyed by the current overheat-protection feature that the SB900 has? i-TTL only (no D-TTL as in the SB-600 for use with D1 series, D100 or 35mm cameras other than the F6). Also, in the SB-910, the sound control function in the slave mode is more conveniently implemented - you no longer need to go into the menu and turn the sound on or off (as is done in the SB-900), but just press one sound control button. But I’d like to know, who is that “someone” who keeps putting guns to peoples’ heads and making them decide random stuff?
