Bryan Ferry – ‘Lyrics’ (2022) 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of Bryan Ferry, Phil Manzanera, Paul Thompson and Andy Mackay joining forces with Brian Eno and Graham Simpson in recording and releasing the debut album of British rock band Roxy Music. Lyrics collects the words written for music across seventeen albums, from the first iconic Roxy album of 1972 via the masterpiece of Avalon to 2014’s reflective Avonmore, introduced by the author, and with an insightful essay by James Truman. The volume will interest Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry fans as well as fans of rock music of the 1970s and 1980s and beyond and comes highly recommended. All the great songs from Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry himself are here, from ‘Virginia Plain’, to ‘Pyjamarama’, ‘Do the Strand’, ‘Love is the Drug’, and through the latter years and one of my favourite albums by Roxy Music was Manifesto released in 1979.

By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. There are many songs written by Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music that are key in my own life and some will always make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up with ‘Angel Eyes’ and ‘Dance Away’ being just two.Not having been inclined to large amounts of touring in earlier years, Ferry undertook another long agenda of live commitments. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The song features Neil Hubbard and Keith Scott on lead guitar, Dire Straits' Guy Fletcher on keyboards, Omar Hakim on drums, and Tony Levin on bass guitar. In 2011 Ferry was awarded a CBE and in 2012 received the French national honour of l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. It was featured in the episode “Junk Love” of Miami Vice (1985), in Fire with Fire (1986), Bitter Moon (1992), Malice (1993), and perhaps the most memorable inclusion in the erotic drama 9½ Weeks (1986), starring Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke.
