Everything from the plot, to the characters (main and side), their development, and the eventual HEA was top notch.
I loved both Chandler (h) and Finn (H) and I found their sex lessons, forced proximity, is this real or not? All through the writing process, I tried to keep Maddy relatable: when she insisted on communicating with me only through her team, when that team sent me photos of notes she’d scrawled on compostable napkins, when she said the writing needed to feel a little earthier. If you’ve been following my reviews for a while, one of the qualities that usually leads to a 5 star rating for me is a successful unique premise. I couldn’t really put my finger on it until chrysa (💕) said that sex scenes are way more enjoyable when you actually care about the characters. Solomon's book is bawdy and hilarious, but it's also extremely emotionally resonant and smart as it tackles everything from abortion to mental health.The friendship between Chandler and Finn was handled really well and this book didn't feel silly despite the circumstances. While Finn is telling Chandler about himself for the sake of his book, he also becomes closer to her in general, naturally conveying personal information that came easily for him to tell her. And hey, the longer we’re here, the longer I can pretend everyone else isn’t at Wyatt’s housewarming.
unfortunately, even in the face of these bizarre and frankly undesirable circumstances, i found these characters to be the unthinkable: boring. It’s always a pleasure to see the woman in a heterosexual couple being more experienced in intimate matters and having no problem communicating her desires. I organized this by genre and release date, and I always preface my rounds-up by saying that I will definitely have more 2024 anticipated releases as the year continues and more books are announced ( I see you Fourth Wing 3 👀🤞🏻).
It’s the persistent tapping at the back of my mind that sounds suspiciously like a clock, wondering if I picked the wrong career path and if it’s too late to start over.
