Back to your recipe, I have never added spices to the soup so adding the spices you suggested made the soup more yummy. Mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch and 1 tablespoon cold water together in a small bowl, then stir it into the pureed soup. You don't need to do a lot of chopping here, everything is going to be blended up and pressed through a sieve.
