About this deal

The key character is a nice boy who was brought up by his grandmother and who pickpocketed to give them a little food.

Good messages on teamwork and kindness, as well as the importance of practising skills (in fact it was nice to see this applied to lessons as I always tell students that writing is a skill and you can get better at it if you practice, just like you can get better at football if you practice). He's top of his class, deals justice to bullies in ways that make him look epic and cool, and figures things out precisely when he needs to – it was most egregious when he manages to connect two dots about Villette Harkness' past completely left-field.He is devoted to her and though he steals, it is only ever enough to feed her or help her when work becomes too tough. Besonders hat mir an ihm gefallen seine soziale Ader und sein Einfühlungsvermögen, was beides besonders gegenüber seiner Mitschülerin Amira immer wieder deutlich wird. We are a home for the forgotten, a sanctuary for the lost and … yes, a training ground for the greatest crooks of the future. An irresistible series about chosen family, high stakes thievery, and what it really means to do good. As someone who never knew regular meals, this is something he doesn’t take for granted and he fills quickly.

We are so much more than that,” Caspian said, sitting in a plush leather chair and gesturing for Gabriel to sit in a similar one across the table. It's Gabriel's second year at Crookhaven School for Thieves and he teams up with Penelope Crook, the headmaster’s daughter who strives to be good at everything, Ade and Ede Okoro, light-hearted tech experts, and Amira Dhawan, a kind Muslim girl with skills in gymnastics and swimming. Rather than spending some time behind bars, Gabe has been offered a place at a most “disreputable establishment”, Crookhaven, a boarding school for “wrongdoers, swindlers and thieves”. There he will study subjects that will mould him into a criminal all-rounder: forgery, crimnastics, picking locks, hacking and deception.

As the Break-In commences, Gabriel will have to rely on his friends to solve the mystery of the Nameless' past, and how it relates to his present. I have not yet read the first book in this series, but that did not take away from my enjoyment and understanding of Book 2. Whilst this didn’t feel all that groundbreaking or unique and featured some somewhat questionably written POC representation, overall this was a fast paced, action packed adventure and a fun book to spend a few hours with. This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees. kid, but pivots when he reveals he actually has an eidetic memory, as if that's some massive barrier to belonging, lmao.Eine wunderbare Geschichte über Freundschaft, Zusammenhalt und darüber über den Tellerrand hinauszuschauen, in der wir Gabriel Avery dabei seinem Versuch begleiten, mehr über sich und seine Eltern herauszufinden.

There's also a heavier focus on the school aspect and less on the adventure and mystery, which wasn't my personal cup of tea, but I can see there being more depth to the series as more books come out. I really don't see why this is included - it's not critical to the plot, and certainly not something we should in any way encourage. Perfect action/adventure for young readers, with enough filling to satisfy those that are older as well.

Gabriel is hungry in more ways than one but he will learn some drastic information over the course of his first year at Crookhaven. But above all the reason this series is so brilliant to me is the main friendship group and how superbly they are written. I loved so much about this book, the school itself was like Hogwarts but without the magic and instead the kids were given lessons in crimnastics, forgery, lock picking and gardening. Unfortunately my biggest gripe is the do-no-wrong Mary Sue main character Gabriel, who seems to be perfect at literally everything. Though there are not a lot of revelations in this book, the maze quest as well as the preparation for the Break-In are entertaining and we turn the pages as quickly as we can.
