I still recommend this book for anyone interested in Hearth Witchery, as it will not only help you bring magick into your housekeeping chores but also feel more deeply nourished and revitalised when you’re at home. I will most certainly turn to The Three Witches of the Mother Moon Coven again, as I work to free the little witch who has lived inside of my heart, quietly waiting, for so many years.In fact I am giving one to a friend practicing for many years and another to a friend just entering the craft. In this glorious compendium Anna Franklin invites you to sit at her hearth and to share in her many years of magical living.

I like the no-nonsense way in which the recipes are laid out, and that the author isn’t finicky about having exactly the right witchy tools to get on with making things – it’s very accessible. They are the nesters and the crafters whose homes enchant you with a sense of comfort as you step through their doorway. As a teen witch my interest was far darker and much less mundane than it currently is (though I still tend towards the darkness). And they may know the magickal properties and mysterious messages of many of the cottage garden flowers. The modern Hearth Witch may find that her home is not in harmony if she feels that her life is lacking a sense of warmth and refuge.

Having been a practitioner of witchcraft for 16 years, I try to share information in a way that is easy to digest for the beginner and advanced practitioner. I will say, there were a few herbal remedies I cannot imagine giving to someone like the valerian tea (valerian, if you don't know, smells and tastes like rotted death) and celery water. Because the focus is on the home as the center of magic and the craft, it’s a good choice for a solitary witch or one who practices with their families. She ties in these things where she can to the different gods and goddesses that have been associated over the ages including Celtic, Roman, Greek and even a Lithuanian deity!
