About this deal

Finally, you probably want the infinity effect to be observable from all sides, so one-way-mirror film is used on all the faces.

For your comfort, we have a technical support service that will help you solve questions on the product online. BEFORE gluing any strips that have a data jump (see schematic), you need to first solder a long strip of wire from the end of the data line, and fold it back to the other side of the strip. PLA should be plenty strong enough for the dodecahedron, but if you want a similar finish to mine, you'll need to either sand everything or use some kind of epoxy coating. The frame has small built in tunnels which can be used to run a data line back under an LED strip to continue with the data path you can see where these jumps are needed in the reference layout graph. One way mirrors on the faces of the dodecahedron bounce the light from these LEDs around within the shape, creating an infinite space illusion within its walls. I think some services might charge you differently for single pieces vs the whole set, so you should check both. Spread epoxy along the inner edges of each of the brackets (ie where the faces are going to slide into).

Thread the cables from the power supply and your LEDs through the holes in the side of the box, and either tie them in a knot or clamp them in using the 3D printed bracket, this is to prevent the wires from being pulled out of the delicate electronics if someone trips over them. Instead, infinity mirrors are generally assembled using one mirror and one clear plate covered with a one-way-mirror film. Before using the product, we kindly ask you to check the equipment (we remind you that batteries and chargers are not included in it. Start with the 3 power input struts and glue one pin into the left side hole on one end of each strut. Please note that the exploitation of LED suits sooner or later leads to the breakdown of moving parts (wires, LEDs).The files provided have integrated ‘grab plates’, these grab plates increase the surface area at the ends and work like a custom brim which can be removed after printing. Although you are unlikely to ever run the strip at full brightness (and heat buildup would probably limit the current draw anyway), I wanted to do my best to accommodate it. Before I launch into the construction details, I thought I'd give a quick explanation about how infinity mirrors work. If you think you require power injection (see step 2 for more info), you need 12 of these alternate struts to accommodate for this. I took a break from the project for a while, and when I came back I had to start over with the arrangement (largely because I had forgot what I had done haha!

The dodecahedron is made out of PCB with an inward-facing semi-transparent mirror film that creates an infinite number of reflections when looking from any angle. By default the buttons are disabled in the code, you can enable them by setting "BUTTONS_ENABLE" to true. Some of the technologies we use are necessary for critical functions like security and site integrity, account authentication, security and privacy preferences, internal site usage and maintenance data, and to make the site work correctly for browsing and transactions. A variety of colors can be customized to stimulate children's creativity and imagination, creating a happy and cute atmosphere for couples. For the power cables I used 20AWG 1mm single core wire, 510 LEDs draw a lot of current depending on the pattern so I wouldn’t go with anything thinner just in case. You should remove any adhesive backing, and tin the pads (I didn't do the tinning, which was a mistake). You should also make sure the inner faces are clean, because they will become inaccessible once the dodecahedron is assembled. From unique lighting products for your home to captivating custom lighting installations for businesses, we do it all. For example, 1 is the beginning of the strip, so the section holds LEDs 1 - 7 (actually 0-6 in software, sorry!

By putting 12 reflective acrylic pentagons in a dodecahedron shape sticking 420 LEDs inside I made the infinity effect shown in the pictures. The strips do not need to be angled as pictured; I took the picture after I test fit them onto the dodecahedron. The effects aren't individually labeled, as it's hard to describe them with just comments, so you might have to do a bit of hunting. They are arranged into lengths of seven LEDs on each of the dodecahedron's 30 edges, for a total of 210 LEDs. I recommend inserting the trio with brackets all around the outside last because it has more places to safely grab than the others. To do so you need to make 2 small wishbone shaped wires for each vertex, see the images attached for reference. On some sections, the arrows point away from where the next section begins, for example on edge 15 to 16.
