I have also purchased the Jolly Phonics books 1 - 7, these are also good as they have pictures which they can colour in and practice their writing of the letters - would recommend the DVD especially if your child is learning Jolly Phonics! Each story takes children on an immersive experience, bringing the letters to life and igniting their imagination.Jolly phonics is an excellent synthetic phonics program to teach reading, but this video is extremely old and not at all entertaining to today's children. This explicit teaching of continuous blending should also be of help to children with good aural memories as it should enable them to access longer words using phonics.
