Honestly, not the kind of scent I would imagine to embody the Empress card in tarot, but on its own is good, clean and fruity fragrances done right. The sweetness and delicacy of its fruity-floral notes form a striking contrast with the strength of the LImperatrice muse, highlighting her irresistible confidence and force of character. It pretty much stays like this for me for about 2-3 hours; I don’t really get to the base notes at all. I still have the magazine rip-out of an article announcing the tarot collection's release date from allure. Seeing the reviews about watermelon body odor, I just went to smell it again and I can see how the musk and jasmin mingling with the fruits could be interpreted that way, but it’s definitely not that human body odor smell or skin smell that is in some other fragrances.
It kind of reminds me of my highschool days when I'd use some very fruity women's deodorant (I use Old Spice, generally not the fruity ones now), that would start to turn sharp on me halfway through the day. The more time passes the similar these two perfumes get however; both have that calming green accord, and they're fresh in a gentle way. This would be great after a shower, a clean fresh fragrance that would work great in the spring/summer.Frankly, the only fruit, from start to finish, that I smell on me is grapefruit: like my hair had been rinsed in the juice and my body rubbed with the essential oils of the rind.
Victoria's Secret - Noir Tease - this has just a little bit more of the strawberry lemonade type "pink" notes with a very similar sweet/sour composition to L'Impertrice 3.In the hot summer months it may heat up in the sun and become even sweeter and perhaps bitter or rotten as others have stated. A work of beauty and absolutely a summer date night staple when the very air is ripe with sweaty sex, sunscreen and lazy heat: l’impératrice cuts through it all like sashaying in a gorgeous pink gown or a splash of cold water on your face, and refreshes your senses. It opens very juicy with the sweet/sour rhubarb balancing the sweet kiwi and tart red currants to give an extremely fresh fruity air. I later introduced it to my mother, and it has since become the scent me and my father fondly associate with her.
Better suited for spring or fall, I get compliments from family and friends when I wear it in slightly cooler weather, rainy days, or ‘perfect temperature’ weather…the watermelon is much more prominent and juicy…it’s fresh and fruity sweet, slightly musky, uplifting, joyful and uncomplicated, an elevated, more sensual version of a VS body spray. I don’t understand the low ratings, if anything this is my favorite perfume out of all 300 perfumes I have. You do have to overspay to get some performance out of this one, but when you do that it lasts decently, I'd say about 4/5 hours with moderate sillage (though for me this drops to 2/3 hours in hot weather which is a pity cause this is a great summer scent).Elizabeth Taylor's Diamonds and Saphires is similar to this, but quite a bit more heavy - with a discernible aldehyde and more of a honey dew/cantaloup melon type smell. The base notes form the foundation of the fragrance, rounds off the smell experience and gives the fragrance a certain degree of depth. I was at Walmart the other day and I was standing near two teenagers for just a few seconds and one of them followed me to ask me what perfume I was wearing.
