About this deal
This oud note is imbued with a smokey quality that doesn’t overwhelm but rather enhances the overall sensory experience.
Performance and longevity it is above average but it does not remind me of a fireplace or anything similar. If I had to say which season this would be most compatible with / reminds me of then - autumn definitely, and winter. You couldn't be fooled if you've smelled Aventus, and if you haven't, you'd still have no idea how Aventus smells. My concern was that it would be less potent than the intense version but this fragrance has no problems with longevity and projection.
I've held onto bottles of fragrances which I did not care for initially, but eventually grew to not only like, but love (Pehaligon's Blenheim Bouquet and Douro are two that come to mind). There is a pretty mellow sour oud, with (slightly charred) sugary vanilla and little else to my nose.
There is a weird in-between point in the dry down where it goes from the initial sweetness to the woods where it just smells like a chemical jumble. Smelling it up close it feels unrefined and poorly put together, letting it make its way to you feels way better.
