About this deal

The Hobans have done it again: a sly text attacking a real juvenile problem and attractive illustrations. Then he sprinkled more salt on the egg and went around again… He ate his bunch of grapes and his tangerine…He set the cup custard in the middle of the napkin on his desk… He shut his lunch box, put it back inside his desk, and sighed. Ebooks fulfilled through Glose cannot be printed, downloaded as PDF, or read in other digital readers (like Kindle or Nook).

I love the rationales Frances provides for not eating certain food "but sunny side up eggs lie on teh plate and look up at you in a funny way and sunny-side-down eggs lie on their stomachs and wait and I love elaborate food descriptions "I have a cream cheese-cucumber-and-tomato sandwich on re bread. The only thing that I for sure remember is that this is where I learned that 'Frances' can be a girl's name. Bread and Jam” may be my favorite book in the Frances series, perhaps because I have prepared so many school lunches. It was recorded at Brilliant Studios in San Francisco and Private Island Trax in Hollywood and mastered at Private Island Trax. Hoban describes Frances's classmate, Albert, eating his delicious, balanced, varied and interesting lunch bite by bite, as Frances wistfully looks on over her bread and jam.I agree with Albert who says, “I think it’s nice that there all different kinds of lunches and breakfasts and dinners and snacks. When her mother mentions that she eats other things in her school lunch, Frances admits to trading her lunches away every day.

Conclusion: My three year old loved the story and kept pointing to the pictures asking to hear about the food descriptions again and again. I would also like to know more about the colorizing controversy, as well as Hoban’s decision to abridge the book as an easy reader. The posthumously published story by the author of Harriet the Spy exhibits an even gentler touch than do her other picture books ( I Am Five , etc. As Kate points out, this is a perfect New Year’s Resolution book because in the story you are encouraged to try new things and break out of your comfort zone.I love to read and hope to use my blog to share some of my most favourite titles and new discoveries.

I just loved reading about all the yummy things Frances got to eat from her lunchbox at school, especially at the end! The next day, she unpacks her lunch, which includes a wide variety of foods, and enjoys it all without complaint.will make six-year-old Nora and her little brother the favorite fiction friends of all readers, any age. Adorable illustrations of this cete of hungry badgers provide plenty for wee ones to chew on while Frances develops an appetite for a wider range of foods. Finally, I just blogged about what I saw as an homage to “Bread and Jam for Frances,” in Debbi Michiko Florence’s wonderful Jasmine Toguchi series! And then, in the course of things, Kate starts looking up what the USDA recommendations are for children, we consider the wackadoodle utensils of the Badger household, what exactly a lobster salad sandwich is, etc. For all ebook purchases, you will be prompted to create an account or login with your existing HarperCollins username and password.
