About this deal
Travel far and light with the Osprey Fairview 55, designed to keep up with fast-moving globetrotters exploring new and exciting places. I walk a lot, take public transportation, stay in hostels, hike, and I often carried this bag for more than half an hour. The included rucksack harness system makes it far more versatile than your average wheeled suitcase.
It works great in many countries and will show you all possible routes by public transport, including the timetables. If your backpack’s hip belt isn’t strong and supportive enough to take the main weight of the bag’s load, it’s essentially useless. The only downside to this bag is how useless the mesh pockets are when it comes to holding any size water bottle. Osprey will repair any damage or defect for any reason free of charge – whether it was purchased in 1974 or yesterday. As with many travel backpacks on the market, the Fairview comes with panel zip access to the main compartment, which allows you to pack it like a suitcase. It must have to do with the fact that it’s a bit bulky, especially with the daypack attached, but also because it’s a lightweight bag so the savings that had to be made on the harness system.
The zips on both bags are of excellent quality and on the main bag are lockable with interlocking zip housings.
From our experience, we found the 70L to be too large in the majority of backpacking trips and would have preferred the 55L in most situations. While the Farpoint has worked well for me, I agree that better organization and a more comfortable harness system can make a difference during those long walks and rough travels.
