About this deal

Reid artfully takes us through Shane and Ilya's individual realizations of what each means to the other, but in a thoughtful, poignant, and often humorous way. Tor Thom is a , new to me, narrator and the reviews of Game Changer, book 1 were polarizing; some loved it passionately , others didn't. I guess I’m just feeling really raw from reading all this where Ilya’s father is concerned because no one really mentions anything about this and I entered this book thinking it’s all fun and games between two rivals and then there’s THIS to deal with.

At the beginning I could really feel how much these two characters disliked each other (mostly because they couldn't stop loving to hate each other in the bedroom, if you know what I mean), but at the same time I could also see the underlining respect and attraction they had for one another. What nobody knows is that Shane and Ilya have been meeting in secret for over six years to fuck each other senseless.

Considering they have sex more than ten times, with those sex scenes being an excessive amount of pages, their scenes never felt tender, sweet, or intimate. Shane…” and he came in hot bursts, coating Shane’s hand and allowing Shane to use the slickness to bring himself off almost immediately, with the sound of his first name being spoken in a breathless Russian accent still ringing in his ears. Then the story takes us back to their teen years before they go to the NHL and we see their relationship develop over the years. The only thing missing was an age difference which likely would've caused me to burst into a cloud of marshmallow floof, glitter and bubbles so.

If the author can give them 10 minutes to fuck, why can’t those 10 minutes be replaced with domesticity? There's pushing against walls, throwing on the bed, dirty kisses,it's take-me-now,I'll-beg-if- I-have-to stuff. It's not a unique, it's the two teams most authors seem to go to (I am still waiting for a Kings/Ducks rivalry authors! Reid also gives us a stark reminder of the fact that love is not love in all parts of the world, even still today. With the period of time this book spans, I was concerned that there would be some slip ups and/or confusions, but nope everything was very consistent and easy to follow.

It was like wrapping up a season of a television show that you aren’t sure will be renewed—I tried to leave Shand and Ilya in a good place in case I never got the chance to finish their story.
