Sterilises from just 2 minutes in the microwave or Sterilise in 15 minutes with cold water with sterilising tablets or fluid. It fits only one bottle and teat (not the bottle cap) and requires a quarter of a Milton tablet for the sterilisation process, which is fine, except the tablets don’t snap along the lines (annoying! Screw the lid on, press the safety vent down and gently shake the Milton Solo - the bottle will be ready for use in just 15 minutes and can stay in the solution until needed. If you cannot wait 15 minutes and have a microwave in the vicinity then definitely try the microwave method which again is so simple. It is equipped with a heating element, which reaches a high temperature to effectively kill bacteria and other harmful microorganisms. Milton Sterilising Tablets or Milton Sterilsing Fluid can be used in the unit which has a large 5L capacity; can hold up to 6 standard baby bottles. There are also no tongs to remove items and it would be good if details re times and amounts were written on the steriliser somewhere as it is probably going to be used away from home.

Very handy to have and easy to use and great that the bottle last sterilised for 24 hours if unopened. If you do require precise ingredient information you should consult the manufacturer, whose contact details will appear on the packaging or label. Both methods ensured that the bottle stayed sterilised for 24 hours which was unbelievably handy for travelling and when out and about.

It’s unique safety vent technology increases the temperature inside the Solo for better sterilisation and the innovative lay-flat lip to fit all microwaves. Bottles or whatever you are sterilising will stay sterile for 24 hours after the initial sterilising process and it is BPA free. Yeasticidal: in 15 min EN 1275, EN 1650, EN 14562 on Candida albicans (1 tablet in 5L) and in 15 min EN 13697 on Candida albicans (3 tablets in 5L).There’s a small, flat lip on the lid so it can be laid down horizontally in a compact microwave, which also means there’s no danger of it rolling around and falling off the kitchen counter. It’s also incredibly straightforward to use, sterilising the contents in a rapid two minutes in the microwave or 15 minutes in cold water sterilising solution as per manufacturer instructions – the NHS recommend 30 minutes.

I would recommend this to other mothers who travel a lot throughout the day, as I think it may be most useful to them. I don't like the smell of sterilising tablets and don't want to have to take my big microwave steriliser away with me when I go away for a few days - I have enough baby things I have to take as it is! Use to sterilise all breastfeeding equipment and baby feeding accessories: breast pump parts, baby bottles, soothers, teething rings, small plastic toys, plastic cutlery and weaning items. The shape of the product is good, you can stand or lie the product down and the air vent on the top is a great idea. I think it could do with having a little measuring cup that comes with it to measure out the 60ml water that’s required for microwave sterilising.It’s less bulky than traditional sterilisers which take up valuable packing space when going on holidays. The Milton Solo should be put upright in a microwave, but can be placed on its side in compact models. When I was asked if I would like to review the Milton Solo Travel Steriliser I had to say yes, especially after the flap we got in a couple of weeks ago when we were caught in a situation where we had no way of sterilising a bottle and a very hungry baby.

Our tester, Maisie, did wonder whether the air valve in the lid might become a weakness over the course of a few months, but it stayed in perfect condition during the 10 days she used it herself. It is ideal for going away as, if you don't have a microwave available, it can be used with just cold water and a sterilizing tablet. No need to rinse the baby bottles or other items that are sterilised, you can use them straight away.It also has a watertight lid to prevent spills when on the move and a unique ‘lay flat’ design so it can be used in any size microwave.
