About this deal

I'd had it for ages but didn't know where I was going to use it until the character of Edgar came along: "I suspect I may have fleas again". After those first ~100 pages, it becomes a "y/n" + Death fanfiction that has ACOTAR undertones [not to be confused with Beauty and the Beast, which I know is the intended reference material].

Cover: I think that by now we all know that Lauren Henderson doesn't really make her covers relate a whole lot to her books as a whole. But when they snatch the coins they also pick up something they hadn't bargained on, and as the hideous consequences of their theft catch up with them all, Seth is forced to face a terrifying truth. A captivating story of love and loss, THE KISS OF DEATH is a stunning companion volume to the bestselling MY SWORDHAND IS SINGING. The book ends on a cliffhanger and of course there are a lot of plot threads that are unanswered, especially back amongst the humans/mortals. Of course lots of people are going to love the feel of this book but for me, this book was unfortunately a bad experience from beginning to end.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions, and thank YOU, reader, for being part of the Choices Community. The Opportunity: I would like to see faster pacing - maybe Kiss of Death and book 2, Touch of Death, should have been combined into one.

There is a mortal love interest for the FMC as well but I don’t know if this series will be why choose. Scarlett's trip starts out innocently enough … though she thinks she's going to die after listening to native Scottish music performed by men and women dressed in traditional costumes. This for me was a solid 4 stars because it was interesting and felt unique in how Death and Hazel come into each other’s orbits. I also appreciated that the FMC isn’t super angsty in second-guessing her decisions - I like an FMC who evaluates the options, makes a decision, and is more or less at peace with it - none of that wishy-washy agonizing over her own choice.I guess I missed Morganville a little and there was obviously a gigantic gap left by the absence of Myrnin but, after a slowish start, this book manages to pull out a few shocks and quickly becomes the action packed adventure that you come to expect from RC. PB announced this book in the June 2022 Choices Insiders, stating that it "will feature a female main character born into one of the world’s most powerful crime families. Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. She's been forced to live the life of a slave, neglected by her family and abused by her stepmother and her two stepbrothers. This might not be the book for everyone, but I really did enjoy it, and I absolutely will continue on with the series to see where it takes us.
