About this deal

Note: The Headphones Volume is Hardware driven and is not reflecting the software Headphones volume. This is why you can’t change DJUCED headphone’s volume on the user interface. With Serato, you’ll really need to upgrade to the full Pro version of the software if you want to access all the functionality you get with the DJUCED.

Another function we quite liked was the Aux filter knob, which allows users to add filter effects onto external audio sources like smartphones without having to tap into your software. The Software Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty The right side of the mixer controls the outputs. In what is becoming a reoccurring theme of the Inpulse 500, the outputs outweigh expectation of an entry-level controller. The master features a separate VU meter and outputs through a line-level RCA. However, the controller also features a pair of unbalanced TS outputs, ideal for those with guitar amplifiers or audio interfaces!

Many of the controllers built by Hercules were originally designed for DJUCED, a homegrown DJ software solution, and an alternative to Serato. DJs will choose two different headphone output options, and there are dedicated cue and volume controls included as part of the setup. The Hercules Inpulse 500 controller takes the standard beginner-entry devices from Hercules to the next level. In the most recent system, the microphone section has dedicated filters for high and low frequencies.

Mix with music streaming services including TIDAL and SoundCloud GO+ in Serato DJ Lite, and Beatport LINK and Qobuz in DJUCED (subscription to music streaming service required). This section is a lot more extensive and detailed than you might expect from similar controllers, at such a low budget price point. However, the lighting might be a problem yet again here, because the LEDs don’t hold up well to bright environments. The Inpulse 500 features a mixer broken into three clear sections. Each section is dedicated to a task, with the left being for inputs. The centre managing the faders and finally the right controlling outputs. The mixers physical ports all line up with clear text on the top of the controller, again helping beginners set up easily. Inputs

Just like the Numark, the larger space has allowed for a more spaced out layout. The layout, paired with the great rubber-coated buttons have helped create a premium feeling for what is still quite a cheap controller. The addition of a metal faceplate on the mixer improves both the image and durability of the controller. We were extremely impressed by the versatility here, especially when you consider how limited many beginner controllers are when it comes to offering input access. Many DJs love the functionality of Serato DJ Pro, which includes everything from tone play to a library management function and flashing beat elements. Hercules DJControl Inpulse 500 Pros and ConsObviously, this does mean spending a little more, but it’s worth noting that a lot more controllers do work with Serato. This could mean that if you decide to change your controller as you develop new skills, you’ll be better off learning how to use Serato effectively early. Robust and versatile, the Hercules Inpulse 500 will work for a range of environments and circumstances. The Aux input and the headphones mix are processed in the same DSP, so as the Aux input works and is mixed on the master output, the in-board audio processing is not the cause of your getting no signal, which is a good piece of news. How the rest of the controller’s features work rather depends on what software you’re using, so we’ll look at all three options now. With Serato DJ Lite
