Having read a number of this authors other books I was delighted to receive an ARC of this novel and looked forward to reading it but I'm sad to say I was disappointed.

The characterisation is so in-depth, and the family connections, so solid - despite the secrets held deeply within. Phillipa Ashley has a way of describing settings that makes me put Cornwall on my travel bucket list.The books setting was in Cornwall as the title gives away and I almost felt that I was there with them on a hot summers day, drinking coffee and taking in the view. The book is set in beautiful Cornwall where friendships develop and some of the characters are brought alive by those they meet. Although very polite and friendly Eden finds it very strange that he hardly ever tells them anything about himself. Phillipa Ashley has once again created an immersive book that captured my imagination from the earliest pages.

I loved the romance side and the bond between grandmother, daughter and grand daughter is just lovely to read about. The state it was a hard stressful job and how glad they were when in 1998 all light houses became altomated. The confrontation wasn't as final, and I could easily imagine Simon coming back, but he's a complete slimeball.Despite her self-imposed moratorium from men, Eden can’t help feeling a zing of attraction as she spots his toned body. Eden the main character was likeable and kept my interest, I felt invested and wanted her to be happy and do well after her previous problems . After her life in London ends in disaster, Eden moves back to Cornwall to live with the mother Sally in the lighthouse cottage she grew up in. Eden could be a chance of getting a big new contact selling coffee to rent out cottages in area, 'coffee business has really taken off'. Duped out of her money, her home, and her future, she has no desire to feel attracted to another man for a long time.

We are introduced introduced to Morwenna, Edan's best friend, she's been away for a couple of weeks so missed her talks about Simon and Levan, she is a photographer. I learnt so much reading this book, along with enjoying a really lovely story with superb characters. Eden had broken up with her cheating and lying ex, Simon, and moved home to be with her mother and grandmother in Cornwall. However i wasn’t counting on spending the whole morning just reading the book without stopping until I had finished.But as she gets to know Levan, Eden begins to wonder if he might be different - until she discovers he's not quite what he seems. T. They start to get closer, but there are secrets between them that need to be told if they have any chance of a relationship. She was with a husband who was a stranger to the truth and when all his secrets came out, she was left with nothing. The book has a lovely Cornish setting and the the was of fresh starts, family secrets and hopeful futures are always welcome in a summer book.
