Although we can’t tell you that these will feel like the Apex or the Rogue ST irons, they certainly don’t feel like budget beginner golf clubs. They’re great alternatives to long irons, so you can play with more confidence on a variety of shots. Unlike drivers there’s generally a bit more variation when it comes to the size of 3 wood heads, and we’d say that the Strata 3 wood is on the larger side. The driver is equally impressive, with the 460cc head and regular flex shaft offering the most forgiveness possible in the hardest club in the bag to hit.

The bag is clean, the clubs look like they’ve never been played and the professional packaging, I could have told someone they came straight from the warehouse and they would have believed me. I bought a strata set as a 75 year old absolute beginner and I am happy to say that after 6 months of play my game has improved steadily,the irons seem pretty consistent and as a slow swinger I sometimes struggle with length. Also of concern was the poor quality finish on the putter head which, with no headcover included in the set, could result in the putter getting damaged. Another key addition are the graphite shafts in the Driver, fairway wood (the club heads design are the same in both models). It's a very complete set from this perspective offering beginners golfers the right range of clubs to have all bases covered out on course.Graphite shafts make the overall weight of the clubs lighter compared to the steel shafts that come in the standard 12-piece set. The warranty is considered void if the item has been modified, altered or tampered with by a person not authorised by S247 PLC to provide service (not including standard periodic maintenance). However, I will say this – as a golf coach, I would be delighted if a beginner turned up for a lesson with any set of golf clubs from this article, including the alternative options above.
