About this deal

I’m delighted that this month I’ve actually found time to read My Life by David Jason, the book chosen by the U3A book group to which I belong. Jason started his television career in 1964 playing the part of Bert Bradshaw in ITV soap Crossroads. I enjoyed this book so much, it was really quite a sad moment when I came to the end of the book, David Jason is a true gem we are all so lucky to have him, all the enjoyment he has brought to so many.

The Chalke History Festival announces a new name, new look, and tons for history buffs to get their teeth into! His story clearly shows his ability to turn his hand to any type of character acting as well as comedic work, though I think he is perhaps most loved for "Only Fools and Horses" with Inspector Frost running second. His acting career has been long and varied: from his theatre work in the West End to providing voices for Mr Toad from The Wind in the Willows, Danger Mouse and The BFG; and from Open All Hours and The Darling Buds of May to his starring roles as Detective Inspector Frost in A Touch of Frost and, of course, Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter in Only Fools and Horses. His acting career has been long and varied: from his theatre work in the West End to providing voices for Mr Toad from The Wind in the Willows, Danger Mouse and The BFG; and from Open All Hours and The Darling Buds of May to his starring roles as Detective Inspector Frost in A Touch of Frost and, of course, Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter in Only Fools and Horses.

Horrifying, heartbreaking and eye-opening, these are the stories, the patients and the cases that have characterised a career spent behind bars. It wasn't until 1981, kitted out with a sheepskin jacket, a flat cap, and a clapped-out Reliant Regal, that David found the part that would capture the nation's hearts- the beloved Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter in Only Fools and Horses. Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. A born practical joker, he was naturally in awe of those a little further up the ladder in the hall of fame. However, it focuses mainly on his theatre career and only mentions the "big ones" until about three-quarters of the way through. It was read very well, it didn't take long to get into it not being David who read the whole story, but it was so nice to have David Jason read the first part of the book. I had no idea of the scale of his career or the People that variety of work allowed him to work with.

The actor who played Trig, the archivist in A Touch of Frost is David Jason's older brother Arthur who is also an actor. I particularly enjoyed David Jason’s obvious affection for some of those he’d worked with like Ronnie Barker, and his sometimes blunt assessment of how he got on with others! For the most part light hearted, it is interesting to read how so many of my favourite shows/characters came about. A well-written, witty, and touching memoir, "My Life" - the title's blandness notwithstanding - enjoyably captures the small and big moments that made one of my favorite actors. Prompted by his retirement from his full-time job in the NHS, and through his continuing work in Nepal and Ukraine, Henry has been forced to reflect more deeply about what 40 years spent handling the human brain has taught him.

Winner of the National Book Awards Autobiography of the YearThe long-awaited autobiography of one of Britain's best-loved actorsBorn the son of a Billingsgate market porter at the height of the Second World War, David Jason spent his early life dodging bombs and bullies, both with impish good timing. Have always loved this man, grew up with him in my house and have continued to watch him as an adult. Jason recounts those days, telling of his childhood in Finchley, his family life, his first forays into amateur dramatics and his move into professional theatre. citation needed] He played the lead role of Peter Barnes in the ATV sitcom A Sharp Intake of Breath (1977–81), alongside Alun Armstrong and Richard Wilson.

He had a plethora of stories to tell, both heartwarming and humorous, none of which I'll spoil here. Approached by BBC1 controller Danny Cohen in early 2011, he read three scripts and agreed to shoot a pilot for The Royal Bodyguard, which was shown at the Edinburgh Film Festival. Already 3 chapters in on my Kindle version – started reading it at 3am this morning – great read so far – don’t forget DJ is also on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show tomorrow morning (11th October).Maybe I'm just a little biased, being such a huge fan of Only Fools, but I think that might not even be the case. The series features exclusive new interviews with many of David's co-stars from more than 50 years on television - including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Pam Ferris, Michael Palin, Stephanie Cole, Johnny Vegas and Tim Healy. Jason's father, Arthur Robert White, was a porter at Billingsgate Fish Market, and his mother, Olwen Jones, was from Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales, and worked as a charwoman. The free download of the first chapter is a big misrepresentation as David Jason narrates this chapter giving the impression he’s the books narrator and he’s not.
